no way that thing would pull 7C idle unless ambient temp was 0C lol. They are pretty poor performers.

lol thought so..... the results were a little odd for such a cheap product, ehh oh well i guess a swiftech water cooler is the better route

Swiftech makes decent kits. A DIY would be better IMO though. I spent less than $100 on my setup, most of which was used, and it is easily better than any other aircooler out there.

maybe i can build something similar to that using waterblocks and like 4 40w Peltier units CPU heatsinks too....

what kind of cooling method do you think is better? having a 226w peltier on the CPU directly? or having two cool a reservior of coolant and pump that through the system.
I'm kinda worried about condensation

226W is a big ass peltier and your power bill will go up $20 a month lol. And cooling the CPU directly would be the best bet.

lol and a core 2 would be like -17C with that! i think it would be worth it if i can extend the life of my machine! swiftech makes a block like that for about 150 and it has been tested to run off the enermax galaxy 1000w PSU.
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/55...tl=g30c105s520 also what PSU do you think i should get? the Thermaltake 1200w? looking at those high amps makes me want to get it..... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817153054 it also has 2 floppy headers(something galaxy dont have), needed if i want to run my X-fi card and floppy drive without adapters, an extra PCI-E connector, more SATA and molex. 20+4 so i can use it with my old stuff if i ever buy it soon. possibility of it being true multirail system the Galaxy 1000w, trusted brand, well tested, good ratings, rumored to be 1200w in disguise http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817194019

It definately would not extend the life of the CPU. There is no way you could prevent condensation under the IHS on the CPU. When you dealing with sub-ambient cooling, you must be sure you can deal with the loss of the equipment because sooner or later it will likely happen.

liquid electrical tape. anyways, how does one insulate an lga775 socket i seen it done on PGA chips but since LGA is different..... yea do i put silicone on the edges of the chip?
right now im just gathering data on methods of cooling and overclocking so if i begin i know what to buy for what i need. so basically, ambient temp cooling is generally the safest (and easiest on the powerbill) to build and use,

Avoid Thermalcake water cooling kits too if you're the lazy type (true in general for all watercooling but more true for Thermalcake). Their waterblocks are worse than a colander for leaks. |

Why is it Beeping!?!?!

i do know a guy that blew out a waterblock from danger den on an 8800 GTS the other day which proved to be a $600 adventure not worth repeating
im a little edgy about water cooling in general unless you have a bullet proof fail safe system |

Oh, @Kris (little late, just noticed): Get the Galaxy PSU. That thing will easily handle anything you throw at it. They're beasts!
TT PSU's are known to be of lower quality but to be honest I haven't heard much on their larger wattage units other than the fact that they're usually rebranded by TT from other OEM's |
