Mod: Really cheap ram sinks

So I was thinking of ways to make my ram run a little faster without spending money. I think I may have found an excellent source of very cheap ramsinks, the little aluminum covers off of floppy disks. I put some thermal paste on my ram chips and then I put 2 covers on each stick of ram. I was able to get the fsb one mhz higher with these installed. Granted that isn't very much, but I didn't spend a cent. I'm sure everone has tons of floppy disks they accidentally wreaked that could use this mod.

On another note, has anyone seen this anywhere else or am I the first to come up with something like this? If I'm the first I Think I'll write it out nicely and try to include some pics.

Or you can just go here www.afrotechmods.com click on PENNY RAMSINKS. It actually works. One of our members here did this several months ago.

that was me, lol. The difference is that these ram sinks are for system ram, the penny ramsinks won't fit on system ram.

Can you point me to a site where I can buy ram sinks without the ram? I couldn't find anything before I tried doing this.

I've seen suggestions that offcuts of aluminium extrusions for carpet edges make reasonable ramsinks - not as good as the same profile if it was copper.

Fastened with thermal epoxy if you have it, or heartsink paste and epoxy dabs if you don't.

If you really need the copper sinks and you dont want to load up your machine throw em on the train tracks and get them nice and flat and wa la. Heh, do not try this... and if you do remember to duck and cover behind something solid, people have died from this.

Get enough of the right shape. Their really flexable so bend it however you want it and your in the zone yeah baby.

That site is pretty funny.
