Just got my new CPU...
ok well i have just gotten my Athlon XP 2100+ T-Bred B and i have OCed it to 11X190 (2090 MHz) but i can't get it past that... i have set my memory timings to 6-2-2-2. when i try to set the fsb to 200 windows wont start, when i leave the fsb at 190 and change the multiplyer to 11.5 windows wont boot, so can anyone figure out what i need to do to get past this? i have the voltage for the processor upped to 1.65V

Leave the fsb at 190 for now and try changing the multiplier only. Also bump the voltage to 1.75v; who you kiddin with only 1.65v

lol, ok. And i have tried changing only the multiplyer... the only reason i didnt want to change the voltage on it to much was because i dont want to burn it out...

hey cool, it worked... i changed my cpu voltage to 1.75V and my RAM voltage to 2.7... and i could get up to 200 FSB... thats the highest i am raising that though... just the multiplyer from now on. but still... i am going to go try and get it up to 2.4 GHz...
EDIT: Ok, i have gotten my CPU up to 2.2 GHz as you know but i can't get it any higher... although i havent tried raising the voltage again... hmm... oh well....... anyway i think i will leave it at that. Unless i can get it to 2.4 ghz later which i would love to have my cpu outperform a P4 3 GHz!!! EDIT2: Ok, i am leaving my cpu at 2.2 GHz... i got it to 2.3 GHz but i couldnt get it stable... and when i put the voltage up to 1.875V i had a serious error... so i decided to leave it at 2.2 GHz. But i think i may have left my voltage at higher than needed... is that bad? Last edited by generalstupid; Apr 22, 2003 at 12:29 AM. |

Excellent, very good to hear the good news. That is an awesome OC! I would have to say though, that you shouldn't really go over 1.85v. I want you to top my OC, that be unbelievable for a 1700+. Keep it going general, but watch out for those temps

heh, that's my fault. But even for a 2100, that is totally awesome. Also you're still safe with the temps, but I wouldn't let it go over 50c just to be safe.

General, you will have a hard time getting up to 2400mhz. Trust me. The 1700B can get 2400 with stock voltage in some situations.

Maybe... It's the luck of the draw. You didn't lose out on anything. You have a 500mhz overclock on a 90$ cpu. You are well off. I just bought a 1700B a couple days ago. It will arrive thursday, I just wanna see how nice they are...

General I have an xp2100 b and a v1.2 nf7-s. Mine is at 205x11.5 all day long at 1.825 vcore. Now that doesn't mean yours will I'm just saying maybe there's a wee bit more in her
![]() Are you trying this dual channel with your two sticks listed in your sig? if so, I bet thats your problem. that pc2100 could definitely give you a serious error heh. I would take it out and just run single stick pc3200 in dimm slot 1 (closest to cpu) and see if you can go any further. just remember, at any time you could corrupt your OS and have no choice but to format and reinstall losing all data on hdd.... wise to have all critical data backed up. |

Whoah, I never realized he was trying to use a stick of PC2100 to get to 200 also. WOW.

running pc2100 is not bad at all at lower fsb speed. While there have been cases of pc2100 running a 200 fsb it is at very relaxed timings and select good sticks. pc2100 is only rated to run at 266mhz (which is 133 cpu). Now if you buy pc2700 you automatically go up to a 166 fsb rate by default. pc 3200 is rated to run 200fsb and pc3500 at 218fsb. So yeah, if you're starting with a rated 133 stick you have a definite hardware disadvantage. Now if you don't OC and are running at 133, pc2100 is fine

those digits 133, 166, 218.......are they the memory's speed? so , basicly you mean that it is hard to overclock them (memory), right? if i were to do so , how?? and how do i check whether they are running on how many MHZ?

This is kind-of related:
What is the best revision of the Abit NF7 to buy? How many are there? What is the latest revision, is it the best for OC and stability? I am sure that will be my next purchase, unless they don't work w/ 9700pros ![]() edit- I run my stick of crucial 2.5CL (2.5,3,3,7 default) pc2100 ram at 2,2,2,7 @282mhz everyday (266mhz default)- it goes much higher though.

OK, NF7 (non s) is identical to the NF7-S other than that it doesn' have Firewire, SATA, or the better quality Soundstorm sound.

The new NF7-S rev2.0's officially support 400FSB (although I think the older one's do aswell with a bios update) and no bios corruption problems.

It's good to see that you got that "10" count now Lionhart........do you feel better?? I wish they would change the requirment's from a 10 post limit to a one month limit on these contest's, sure would kill the spamming.
