Anyone got bios screenshots of their overclocked GA-P35-DS3P?

Anyone got bios screenshots of their overclocked GA-P35-DS3P motherboard?

I just upgraded my system to an intel from an AMD, and it's a little different and when i try a few things to overclock the fsb and play with the ram etc, it just doesnt like it one bit and keeps rebooting!

so I seek for some already stable overclocked systems that I can replicate and attempt myself and of course learn from this..

how much you like to overclock the CPU? do you want to try something like from the stock speed to 3.2GHz (400x8)?

i dunno...

everything i've tried to alter.. ive been unsuccessful and i know its not a faulty board, because its working great.

maybe also i just flashed the bios 1 hour ago.. that could be part of the resolution
but lets wait n see =)

what is the CPU Vid?
you can use either Everest, Core Temp or Gigabyte EasyTune5 Pro to read the value?

for the CPU and at 3.2GHz (400x8), try starting with 1.375V Vcore (it may not need this high or the system may need more volts you just need to try it), and set the following in BIOS...
save the settings and exit to reboot the system, and then test your system memory with memtest86+ 1.7 right away.

Robust Graphic Booster [Auto]
CPU Clock Ratio [8]
CPU Host Clock Control [Enabled]
CPU Host Frequency (MHz) [ 400 ]
PCI Express Frequency (MHz) [Auto]
C.I.A.2 [Disabled]

System Memory Multiplier [2.50x]
Memory Frequency (MHz) [ 1000 ]
High Speed DRAM DLL Settings [Option 1]
Performance Enhance [Turbo]

DRAM Timing Selectable (SPD) [Manual]
- CAS Latency Time [ 4 ]
- DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay [ 4 ]
- DRAM RAS# Precharge [ 4 ]
- Precharge Delay (tRAS) [ 12 ]

use [Auto ] for these below settings for now. you can try to get the better or best values later, or i will try to help you, if you like?.
- ACT to ACT Delay (tRRD) [Auto ]
- Bank WRITE to READ Delay [ Auto ]
- Write to Precharge Delay [Auto ]
- Refresh to ACT Delay [Auto ]
- Read to Precharge Delay [Auto ]
- tRD [ Auto ]
- tRD Phase Adjustment [ Auto ]

System Voltage Control [Manual]
DDR2 OverVoltage Control [+0.40 or +0.45 top] = 2.2V or 2.25V top.
PCI-E OverVoltage Control [Normal]
FSB OverVoltage Control [Normal]
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control [Normal]
CPU OverVoltage Control [1.375V]

quite good actually.. first night i got it i put this multiplier at 14 and left everything else on stock, and it worked fine in windows @ 14x266fsb 3.7ghz lol. so yeah. you can see why i am seeking screenshots.. i wanna use this baby to its full potential =)

once i do get a kickass stable overclock, i'll definitely post up my adventure and share it with you guys

for some annoying reason, i think i'm lacking in the PSU department.. i think that's whats stopping me..

i'm running an enermax 580w modular

4 raptors, 1 other hdd, quad core, 2 gig led rm chips, 9 silenx fans..

would that be the reason?

Quite possibly, mind listing your current bios settings?

Do these settings to some extent

400x9 = 3.6ghz set 1.40-1.5v see what works....(temperature permitting of course) DDR2 1000 4-4-4-12 .... set NB Voltage to 1.50-1.55v whatever is closest to that. CPU PLL Voltage (if applicable) 1.6v, FSB Voltage = 1.4v (can goto 1.5v if needed) NB GTL Ref (if applicable) .63x/.67x ...CPU GTL Ref .63x. (if applicable)

Try doing that

Might be a dud of a QX, some of the ES's were not that good....what did the previous owner run it at? Either that or it very well might be the PSU.

you're welcome zaim.
since your board's BIOS is most likely like mine, i have P35-DS4, and i think in fact the whole board is quite similar to mine except yours doesn't has the fancy chipset's component heatsink and silent pipe designs, even if yours has a different and newer PCB rev or BIOS version, but all these will only be slightly different from mine.

so may be i can be more help to you if you give me more info, i mean in a more complete details, what is happening to the system when overclocking, how BIOS has been set, by filling the BIOS setting and all its parameters into the form above. and what about when it's not overclock? describe how system reacts to whatever you try to set in BIOS, and what you try to set it?

it's all depends... but, was the computer system ever stable, at all?

could be anything's man. ... system memory settings, ... system voltage settings, this includes CPU, DDR2 and chipset voltages, ...the power supply is not up to the job, ...and, some kind of a bad hardwares, again, could be anythings. anyways, the more info the peoblem and solution becomes more clear.

well, if you suspect the problem is due to the power supply, then test it first. test the overclock and the board on a table, don't connect all those drives.
i have been playing with P35-DS4 for sometimes now, and in addition to the one i own i had played with a few more of P35-DQ6 and P35-DS4 in the past months, and i think they are basically similar to your board. so i'm quite sure the board itself is quite easy to overclock, and am also sure that its current BIOS is already a good one. however, this does not mean your board is not a defective product.

sven007 is on a distinguished road

Reading this with interest as I've recently bought a P35-DS3P + E6750 and intend overclocking this to around 3.2Ghz (400 x 8).
@PangingJr, you've obviously got quite a bit of experience with these series of boards, just wondered if you've seen a discrepancy between the CPU voltage that's set in the bios (CPU voltage control) and that reported by Speedfan or Core Temp or similar program, 'cos when I set it manually to 1.35?V, it's reported as 1.31 in the above progs and that's with no load.
Cheers.

i don't know about speedfan i've not used it for my board (P35-DS4),
the core temp program do not report CPU core voltage or Vcore, it reports CPU VID value only (this value can also be seen in BIOS at the "Normal CPU Vcore [ ? ]", and the value cannot be changed).

for my board the CPU core value different between BIOS-set value and the value reported by Everest or EasyTurn5 Pro in Windows... 0.020 - 0.035
for example, BIOS-set value 1.275, in Windows 1.25,1.24.... BIOS-set value 1.44, in Windows 1.42.

and i've been using the latest BIOS for a few days, and i find there is almost no different with both value.

note--

as for the BIOS-set value 1.275, in Windows 1.25,1.24...
it's actually 1.25V in Windows when the CPU is running at 2667 MHz and this when the BIOS-set value = Normal,
the value in Windows will be like 1.01V.... 1.09V...... 1.25V

and for the BIOS-set value = Normal (at the CPU core voltage), this can be used to overclock my E6750 from the stock clock to 3200MHz and stable.

i can't edit the above post.

here's some more info to add to it...

for my E6750 (CPU Vid 1.275V) @ 3200MHz

voltage is set as follow:

System Voltage Control = Manual
DDR2 OverVoltage Control = ? depending on you DRAM timing settings and the memory frequency that you will use on the system.
PCI-E OverVoltage Control = Normal
FSB OverVoltage Control = Normal
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control = Normal
CPU OverVoltage Control = Normal
Normal CPU Vcore = ? <== CPU Vid.

the E6750 will be running like... from 2400MHz to 3200MHz (6x - 8x 400MHz at 1.01V to 1.26V now with the latest Beta BIOS F8f, was 1.25V with BIOS F7),
it's the same CPU core voltage that is in use to operate the E6750 at stock clock... which is from 2000MHz to 2667MHz (6x - 8x 333MHz).

if your memory can run at DDR2-1000 CAS4-4-4-12 set the BIOS for the "System Memory Multiplier" = 2.50x (2.50x 400MHz = DDR2 1000MHz) which is FSB/DRAM 4:5...

it's the best DRAM and memory freq setting, best system performance when you are having the E6750 at 400x8 on this Gigabyte board (your board should be the same),
you are able to boot and run Windows with the PL5 setting (tRD or static tREAD value = 5 in BIOS)...
and this is the best low overclock (low voltages use, low system/CPU temps) with the E6750 and with this board.

here you can see some info... the system CPU running at from 2400MHz to 3200MHz... the CPU core voltage will also be switched up and down..

note--

do not use the EasyTurn5 or EasyTurn5 Pro to overclock in Windows.
overclock your system in BIOS only.

that's my predictions, based on past evidence, you like Asus's, and all the best there is in a hardware, Gigabyte's board is not the best out there.
and its name has never been your first choice, never cross your mind long enough for you to decide and already have bought one. you will give up on it when any problem occur. you should have not bought it in the first place? so if you buy one and try it out, you will help me prove that to be correct or not.

I suppose you would be right, I generally try to stay towards the best of the best..... Gigabytes I have seen are nice boards though

you will never like Gigabyte, i've been seeing from time to time at some certain forums on the internet that some have quite a hard time getting their processors and memory overclocked with Gigabyte's P965, P35, X38 and want to give it up and buy Asus, some said they should have gone for Asus's, lol, don't waste you money with it you'll give it up in a few days.

thanks guys =)

i wanna try maximize full performance!

i got my system running at 3.6ghz atm..

12 x 300fsb
1:2 with ram so ram is at 1200mhz 5-5-5
fsb running at 1200mhz

but ill lower the ram to 2.5 and lower the multi and work the fsb!

depending on the FSB zaim, since your memory module can run at a high speed you can always try 3.0x when your FSB is low and you use high CPU multi.
but in most cases, you won't need anything but 4:5 (2.50x), your system won't need more real memory bandwidth. this excepts your are going to use a very high FSB and your memory can't handle running 4:5, try 5:6 (2.40x) and 1:1 (2.0x) with low DRAM timings.

you can see this... compares to the 4:5 above.

another low overclock and memory multi...
on 333x? , try memory 3.33x and set the performance enhance to Extreme, CAS4, tRD=4 and your memory speed will be at DDR2-1110, this is another low overclock, which gives a good system performance, this also good for running a Core 2's at sock FSB or when oveclocked 266 to 333MHz.

and here is how you can first start playing with the timings using Memset in Windows, and then take all of the values to BIOS-set.

(i hope i didn't miss any value and got it all right)...

the everest also gives you a very good info about your memory timing settings, except the everest cannot be used to chang timings in a real-time, and it seems to always get the "tRTP" value wrong and seems to have 2 above the BIOS-set value.

a few things you should know when playing with Memset in Windows...

the results of using it, i have killed my RAID on the fly once, so always back up your files/data first.
and you may want to add a few more DDR2 voltage in BIOS first, and then check your DDR2 voltage with the timings sets at your next boot using memtest86+ and to verify the DDR2 voltage setting again.

sven007 is on a distinguished road

Thanks for your help and info PangingJr. I've got it stable @ 400 FSB with Cpu Voltage Control = Normal as you've suggested, although I had to disable CPU C1E, CPU EIST, & CPU TM2 as you suggested earlier in this thread. Just wondered how you get 2400 - 3200MHz (6x - 8x 400MHz) with these features disabled, since mine is 8 x 400 = 3200MHz all the time now, or do you not need to disable them all ?. BTW, my Corsair XMS2 memory is rated 4-4-4-12, 800Mhz @2.1V. It may run faster with slacker timings, but I haven't tried yet.
Also, you mention bios F8f beta, when all I see for your board (DS4) on Gigabytes website is F7. Latest for my board is F6. Where did you get tht bios ?
Cheers.

it's also related to operating system, try enabling those CPU features in BIOS and see if you will be able to get 2400 - 3200MHz (6x - 8x 400MHz) including the core voltage that should drop to lower levels. otherwise, disabled the C1E, EIST features and your system CPU may need to run at 3200MHz at all time.
in all cases, test stability of your system again.

"BTW, my Corsair XMS2 memory is rated 4-4-4-12, 800Mhz @2.1V. It may run faster with slacker timings, but I haven't tried yet."

set memory multi to 2.0x, the performance enhance to Turbo, DRAM timing to 4-4-4-12 with the rest to Auto, and DDR2 voltage to +0.3, which is 2.1V at its rated.
and then boot into Windows, and run the Memset program, and show me, i would like to see the stock DRAM subtimings.
you probably won't need to change them, or otherwise you may need to add more volts to the system.

also, if you don't know how to overclock memory, and/or with a wrong move, you can damage your memory modules...
otherwise, set memory multi to 2.50x, the performance enhance to Turbo, DRAM timing to 5-5-5-15 with the rest to Auto, and DDR2 voltage to 2.1V (may need to add more volts to it).
the clock speed is overclocked to 1000MHz, run memtest86+ right away, Test #8 for 5 passes, and then 15 passes of the Test #5, this takes about 30 miniutes to finish.
if all seems okay, then boot into Windows, and see if you like this settings more. if you don't see any gain from using this setting, go back to the 4-4-4-12 settings.

=====================

as about BETA BIOS's for yours...

i hardly want to encourage you to go for BETA BIOS's.
i'm a dangerous and adventurous man when comes to my own computer system, so whether or not you can take the consequence if there is any,
you decide.

the latest version of BIOS beta for yours has been out also... Station-Drivers: le site de drivers, bios, firmwares, ect... ( site has some ads )

anyways, i like to suggest you to use the BIOS built-in's Q-Flash programming utility to reflash your BIOS, and not to reflash by using the tool that Gigabyte made for Windows, the @BIOS.
you can place the BIOS file in a USB drive or a diskette, boot into the Q-Flash program, once it's done, select the command from the utility to power-off or reset the system,
and don't forget to enter BIOS setup again and to Load Optimized... save and exit the settings to restart once, then start re-set all the BIOS settings to your prefered values and system configuration.

and, in all cases, before you reflash BIOS enter BIOS setup and Load Optimized and save/exit to restart once and first, then after you have done that, boot into the Q-Flash program to reflash the BIOS.

anyways, i got my E6750 to 4.0Ghz in a few hours after i have it setup on the board, my memory modules to DDR2-1270MHz in the next hour or so,
and within a week or so i know all of the hardwares (and its limit) that i want to use to build a system. and every BETA BIOS counts, because my board is very new at the time.

i've played very hard with the available hardwares and operating system for a whole month and more when i have time, and usually, i know my hardwares soon enough, lol, if anything goes wrong, i just replaced it and try again.

it's important to know your hardwares, especially, you're going to overclocing them and also to use them as overclocked.
you may do things differently and with your ways during you test your hardware, but i like to encourage you to try to know your hardwares as much as you can.
