it's basically to replace the stock heatsink with something good quality.. something that they wouldn't have to worry about within a few months (as i've recently been finding that the supplied intel stock fan has a quick habit of filling with dust to the point of overheating

![]() A close 2nd to that would be getting the Normal 120, Tuniq Tower, or Ultima 90. |

whatever will be your choice should give you a better cooling and all than the Intel stock one Judas.
cooler unit that uses a seperate fan will likely be easier to clean, and sometimes you can increase its performance by using a better performance fan, however, a good performer cooler is likely to be very big because that's what it takes to make it a really good performer. however, i think your big concern should be about the motherboard's CrazyCool back-plate because i'm not sure how good you are when it comes to making this work if there is problem in installation complication. so if you can handle the size, should you be using one of the Scythe's product mentioned above than the the Freezer 7 Pro? and if you can handle the installation complication, should you be paying a few more and using The... "Best Intel 775 Heatsink", i don't know? i'm too lazy with my english to give you any more advise by typing it all up, lol, i have some coolers for you to test them out, but you aren't living next door, lol. |

Probably better to stick with those mentioned.. being ACFP or Scythe Infinity/Ninja Plus Rev.B. That way you don't need to fool around with a backplate. Something else that occured to me that makes either Scythe products a more likely candidate: it's universal. If you are going to be using this on client machines you don't have to stock 4 coolers just for AMD, and 2 for Intel. Saves you time, money, and hassle.
If you want to have a price range of products you can get the Infinity for the hardcore guys, and use the Ninja Plus Rev.B for a more average crowd. If you need more aggressive cooling you can even grab the extra fan hangers for either cooler, and add additional fans to them. |

Just finished installing a Thermalright 120 Extreme. Was originally looking at the Ultima-90, but for the 10 dollar difference I said to heck with it.
Using an 89cfm Aerocool fan on it (SUPER quiet) rather than a louder, 100+ cfm fan. Set up as a push fan, no pull through, facing the rear exhaust fan on the case. The base is lapped, of course, down to 1500 grit, then polished. Currently clocked @ 3.0ghz (333x9) on 1.18v it's idling at 34c with 23c Ambient Temps - (Idle being DH.net up, and a DreamScene background going). I had it down to 27c with 14c ambient air on it. I can't get it to pass 55C loaded with any OC I've thrown at it, even when pushing the 1.5v marker, and I've got a pretty wimpy fan on it. Note: the TR120 Extreme BARELY fits in an Antec 900 case. May want to just presume it won't fit. If you need smaller, go with the Ultima-90i. You will not be disappointed - Also be sure you've got a solid exhaust fan that can match the flow of your push/pull fan on the heat sink. Last edited by Kazeko; Nov 6, 2007 at 05:53 AM. |

I have the gigabtye x38 mobo and a Coolermaster Stacker 830 with 5x120mm sythe fans fitted, 3 of which are mounted to the door. oh and my CPU is the Q6600
I bought the Ninja Rev B and it does fit. BUT, the fan will only fit on one side of the the heatsink with the coolpipe (or whatever its called) still attached to the mobo. so it basically blows air to the top of the case i.e. straight into the PSU. This set up isnt quite good enough as it is drawing the hot air from the back of the gfx card though the heatsink. i want to OC, and at stock it is in fact 10 degrees cooler in this method that the stock HFC @ 32 degrees C idle. bumping Vcore to 1.44 (i wanted to see how far i could go with Vcore without overheating) causes temps to reach about 51degrees C idle. which is too hot because when prime95 starts to run you are talking about 80degrees C. i am thinking of moving to a different cooler so that it will blow air through the heatsink to the back of the case. or even taking the coolpipe set up off the mobo. not sure to be honest. |

OK guys, got the DQ6 board mounted, installed, the Freezer 7 pro BARELY fits... it actually is putting a slight bit of a presure on the northbridge heatsink on the board.... very slight... slight enough to run it.
applied the thermal paste i'm using... and my CPU is registering 22*C after running memtest86+ v1.70 for 3 hours straight.... coupled with 6 SATA hd's and 1 sata dvd-rw-dl and 2x x1900xtx's in crossfire..... IMO, i'm VERY VERY impressed with the cosmos 1000 case

My E2140 M0 (1.6GHz @ 1.15V) is doing 20 degrees idle and 32 load with a Sharkoon Rebel9 Value Edition case on the stock cooler. Roomtemperature about 19 degrees. That 250mm in the sidepanel SUCKS HARD (literally
).I went overclocking yesterday, on stock voltage (1.325) up to 2700MHz stable but my memory is holding me back. Solving that tomorrow, +0.2V on the PC5300 Kingston's. Loadtemperature: 43 under full load (Rosetta @ Home and more programs on background). Can really recommend this case (Y) |
