Overclocking an old Celeron
Hey guys,
I'm looking to overclock my Celeron 333mhz, and it will be my first overclocking attempt on a processor. Do you guys know of any good tutorials for COMPLETE newbies? Like, step by step, preferably with instructions? And, any tips from you pros? :P

First of all, make sure that your mobo supports fsb adjustments(& preferably cpu voltage adjustments).
Then increase the fsb to 75mhz or 83mhz & test for stability by running CPU Burn-in @ http://users.bigpond.net.au/cpuburn/ for a few hours to a day. If the cpu is unstable, increase the voltage a little. And check your temperature at all times to make sure that it does not exceed 50C or so. |

Ok I doubt you'll be able to do anything from the BIOS.
We are talking about Cellery 333MHz, which I think it works on some of the older mobos that dont support BIOS FSB and Clock setting, but then I might be wrong. In case your BIOS does not give you the option to change teh FSB and the CPU clock you'll need to find your Mobo's manual and jumper configuration. You should be able to change the Front BUS speed and the CPU clock by switching couple of jumpers in their right position. You should give us some more info on your mobo.

Could you give me a FULL rundown of the entire system. Motherboard: Make - Model - Revision - BIOS Revision - Processor: Make - Model - Stepping - (should be listed on the processor somewhere) Memory: Make - Model - Speed - Chips - (should be listed some place on the memory) Cooling: Make - Model - fan(s) - -------------------------------------------- As much information as you can get me will help a lot. Thanks

Depending on your chip, the 333's were a little hard to clock on the 100 buss as oposed to the good old 300a's.

333 celeron ran on a 66 bus (5x66) to be exact. If you have a motherboard that supports the 75MHz FSB then you might be good to go... I have heard of 333 celerons doing 450 with no problems.

I ran a cely 300 at 500mhz on my abit board everyday in a case with no fans. Id go up to 600 heh... Crazy stuff. I was really impressed. Its overclocking options were some of the first software ones. My overclocking experiences have been less than favorable since... Two amd processors. The last just didint like overclocking... and my new one is a palimino. It runs at 50C all the time. which sucks.
