A7N8X Deluxe Bad Overclock?
If I set the multipliar higher than 11.5x it won't post, if I put the FSB higher than 135 the computer will lock up after 30 mins of gametime.
Is this due to the ram? Specs: Asus A7N8X Deluxe Sound Blaster Audigy 2 AMD Athlon XP 1700+ 256mb Samsung pc 2700 256mb Kingston Valueram pc 2100 Western Digital 100gb Special Edition TDK VeloCD 40/12/10 CDRW Creative 12x DVD-Rom Antec TrueBlue 480watt PS CPU Fan = Dragon Orb 3 7000rpm by Thermaltake |

Is your 1700 a Tbred or Pally?
The Tbreds are unlocked / L1's not cut. Pallys are locked / L1's cut and will not OC without unlocking / connecting L1's. Also, what rev and BIOS is your board? Many of the earlier rev A7N8X D's shipped with the POS G BIOS that has trouble with clocking. If that’s your situation, flash to the latest 1002 or 1003 and it should work fine. |

it probably is the RAM... i wouldnt overclock PC2100... you should wait and buy some faster ram before overclocking. Or at least another stick of PC2700... also what are your voltages and memory timings. I also told this to someone else "just wait until you really know what you are doing before overclocking..."................. i have been on this site since july and i just overclocked last month...

check what core of the xp is it, i'm saying palomino, that's why you can't go over 133, if u want to, unlock it, and then upgrade bios to 1002 or 1003 and then u can boost up the memory.

Actually when I had the soyo dragon plus (KT266) I had the FSB to 143 stable o.O

even with a pally he can get over 133 MHz... but not enough to matter. You just really can't overclock much on pallys... i got mine up to 1.9 GHz and coulnt get stable any farther... but really... the problem i am sure is the ram. You can't overclock PC2100 very much at all...

Look at my specs in my sig. I tried overclocking and I got up to 1824GHz and my two favorite games that I play online (cstrike, SOFII) freeze up and cstrike even restarts my system after 4 secs of gameplay.. WTF? So I just quit until I get a new Thoroughbred
