to each his own... you could sell your cpu for $80 like i did and then spend only another $8 or so and get a tbred B... or even just get a 1700+ TBRED-B, they overclock just as well...

I got my 1700+ TBred-B to 2.09GHz (~2500+) -- and that's only on 1.6V.

Or with as cheap as the 1700 is....you could just buy one and use it to experiment with.....that way you will alway's have your main cpu for back up.

Got my 1700B to run at 2.5ghz with 1.75v.... FATA$$.... Once I get RMAed board back I can get rid of this A7N8X.... It only goes to 1.75v. Sh*t my NF7-S will get this even higher.

Everybody is so crazy about the T-bred JUIC 1700, but i went with P4 2.4b 533fsb SL6RZ s-spec and this baby clocked at 3906mhz/217fsb with swiftech peliter unit. I can't get it any higher than this, it becomes unstable starting at 218fsb, i think it might be the processor, coz memory i got is rated for 233mhz.

No, everyone was crazy about that one like 3 months ago. Now it is the JIUHB.

@DriveEuro

There was an interesting article over at monster-hardware, unfortunately I can't find it anymore - except for the google cached page that for some reason I can't link to (the VBB seems to dislike the nested urls).

If you want the whole text (very technical), check the "cached" link below the first result here.

While entitled "sudden tbread death syndrome", the article is about .13u processors in general (Northwood and Tualatin included). It appears that, for technological reasons (if we do the math and convert this value for a 20A oxide we would get a breakdown voltage of 2 volts), lifetime of the processor is greatly reduced if operated at vcore voltages aproaching 2V.

From what I've read, 1.8 V seems to be the upper limit accepted as safe... and you're already there.

1.75 is far enough from 2v. Besides the processors are so damn cheap now that you can get one with a portion of your weekly pay check ( i mean the 1700B, 1800B and the 2100B)

i've been overclocking for years, but i do love these new T'Breds. As much fun to overlcock as the 1Ghz T'birds (AXIA Y, which i got mine to 1.6Ghz). Currently running my XP1700+ @ 2.23Ghz @ 1.5v, i;ve had it running 2.55Ghz at 1.85v. All on air (SLK800 with 80mm papst fan). Me likes.

This 9700 Pro is pretty fun to overclock as well, gets a nice 400Mhz on the core with no real effort (i gave up effort a long time ago)..

although i still miss my old GF II Ultra which managed 361Mhz on the core with only a BlueORB added to it (was very cool for the time)..
