I recently bought MSI's P35 NEO2-FR

As I dont know anything about Overclocking. The P35 NEO2-FR supports DDR2 1066 through overclocking and I want my Crucial 2X1GB DDR2 1066 PC8500 to run at 1066. I dont want to run the ram at 800mhz


Could anyone help me out by telling me step by step what to do From the Bios.I would really be thankful to that person !

If it is not available in one of the RAM dividers, you will probably have to up your FSB to the point where you can select 1066.... however I would do some reading up on overclocking, and get into it considering the hardware you have.

Just my thoughts though, but to make the RAM 1066 all you need is to pick the right divider, or in your case since its a P35 based motherboard is to up the FSB frequency. But I would really recommend getting up some goals of the system in terms of an OC you would like, that chip you have is easily capable of 4ghz, as well as keeping maybe 450x9 which would leave you with DDR2 1081 with a 5:6 divider, quite fast really.

The thing is I dont overclock at all.. and i have Stock cooling AKA Intel's FAN and 120mm Fans cooling my chasis. I just want my RAM to work at its Native Speed. I mean if i get it to work at 1066 in essence that wouldnt be overclocking? or would it?

Well it depends how you make the RAM to run in 1066Mhz if the CPU FSB is 1333 then the there is no overcloking.

the default CPU FSB is 333MHz (FSB is known to be quad-pumped... 333 * 4 = 1333MHz or 1333MHz / 4 = 333)

if you are not overclocking the FSB, you are not overclocking the CPU.

if you don't want to overclock the CPU, but want to run your system memory at a speed of DDR2-1066

check and set the DRAM setting option in the BIOS, then see if you are able to set CPU FSB to DRAM clock frequency as 1:1.60

1:1.60 (CPU FSB : DRAM ) memory ratio............ 333 (CPU FSB ) x 1.60 = DRAM clock 533 (DDR/double-pumped) = DRAM speed 1066MHz (DDR2-1066MHz)

or (if this option is available) set BIOS option “System Memory Multiplier” to 3.2x........... 3.20x 333 (CPU FSB) = DRAM speed 1066MHz (DDR2-1066MHz)

Simply go into "Cell Menu" option in BIOS, and set the "FSB/Memory Ratio" to [1:1.60].

BTW, why would you not consider overclocking????!!!!

Hey Panging, Doing fine, thank you. Yeah, got a TR120E and life is good. I played around to see how far I can push my Q6600. I got it running stable up to 468x8. Beyond that point, voltages get way too scary.

it seems to me that high FSB overclock for Quad Core is hard. may be that's about to hit the limit that your CPU is able to overclock.
the required core voltage on each CPU can be so different, a friend of mine has two, and when they overclocked at the same clock using same board, one uses 1.58V, another one only uses 1.40V.

There are actually only two ways for you to reach ddr2-1066.

One is to use a higher ram divide.

The second one is to overclock your FSB to 445FSB using the 333/800 divider and lower your CPU Multiplier from x9 to x7 if you're worried about your current cooling.
