High Temps = No Internet?
I've encountered this problem with high temps and internet dying. I'm getting a replacement HSF (Spark 7 to be exact).
Situation: Load up RTCW or Enemy Territory and connect to a server succesfully SOMETIMES. If I don't get stalled at the load screen "Awaiting Gamestate..", after a few seconds of playing, I get "Connection Interrupted" and I have no choice, but to quit. I downclocked and put everything back to default resulting on a lower temp and I could play with no problems. Is there a way around this? The net works fine outside the games. EDIT: Doesn't appear to be temps.. What could it be then?! It only happens in games! EDIT OF EDIT: Verfication: I believe temps have to do with the death of my internet while gaming. Either that or voltage to the core itself. But anyways, I tried 2400 MHz setting (Default) with 1.65 V and I couldn't game, but when I busted the VCore down to 1.525, all was swell. So I can say with high certainty that high FSB has nothing to do with it. Just Vcore OR temps...Or Higher Vcore --> Higher temps --> No net while gaming. ADDITIONAL OBSERVATION: I notice that my Bloc Sync light on the LANCity modem given by Rogers Hi Speed Internet goes off when I try to connect and stalling on the "Awaiting Gamestate.." screen. BUT as soon as I quit the game the Bloc Sync light comes back to normal. P.S - I appologize for confusion.

What are you using for internet, if you are using a winmodem or something along those lines, a cheap Modem or NIC they use your CPU cycles to process the interent, more then one with abuilt in DSP and that causes slowdown and sometimes drops in game, but if you have a decent rig and aren't running into FPS problems as well then this might not apply to you

Sure sounds like a PCI bus multiplier problem to me.

I got it fixed @ 66/33
I manually set it @ default. Unless the P4PE has some problem of setting it at that value.

Appears you have broadband...have you tried a different NIC?

I have NIC and OnBoard
I'm using the OnBoard right now. See Internet works fine outside of gaming. I've tried the NIC, same deal.

IRQs managed by WinXP.
So... I don't know what to do about that.

So do you know if their sharing or not? Your answer isn't really yes or no.

It says IRQ 20.
So I doubt it's being shared.

Check your Cat 5 Cable, i know it seems unrelated but you might want to check it just in case. You can also try turning your video settings down for the game if you want to try and see if its just your computer being overloaded, but neither of those are that likely

Can't be the CAT5
Unless gaming goes through some special portion of the CAT5 which is never used by any transferring of data, but gaming. I will give the lower settings option a try.

Additional Info:
Even just entering RTCW or ET, and using their in game browsers yields ZERO browsers. But if I use All Seeing Eye (An External Program to find servers) I can see the servers and have wonderful pings with them.

![]() EDIT: Oh, nevermind. I figured how to view that. Nope not shared at all.

I Am So Smart! S-m-r-t!
I solved my internet and supposedly "High Temps" problem (Refer to the thread called "High Temps = No Internet?") I put in my PCI card and enabled a tweak I saw in several "network adapter tweak sites" It's the tweak which enables the onboard processor of your NIC card.
Network Adapter Onboard Processor Enable Tweak Give a shot, folks. It worked for me ![]() Another problem I had was with Q3 related games. RTCW was getting "Connection Interrupted" alot due to high framerates. So I purposely looked for performance hindering options. Heh Heh, I'd never thought I'd do that. On the plus side, my RTCW is prettier than ever.
