RIV@NVX will become famous soon enough
System Specs

I would only change graphic card to some Radeon in the same price range (9500 or 9700 series, depends what you can get).

looks good though I agree with Radeon. Even save your money for a 9700 is what I would recommend doing!

dunno about that week on that chip (cpu).. I would spend some time trying to find one of those 0310 WMPW xp1700's that run up sooo nicely!

330 PSU should do you fine as long as the rails are very solid. just keep an eye on them as you begin OCing. Though if you get the r9700 I believe 350 min is recommended...

still gonna be a very sweet setup once its done. be sure to come back and let us know how the OC comes along

np Shuki,

I can still get one of the 1700's here at this store I think they have a few 0312's but my reasoning was after getting rid of my 2200 I thought and OC of this 2400 should be good. I have been trying to get a 9800PRO from best buy, due to circumstances i gotta buy it from Best Buy, but all they have in stock atm is the 9700pro

I have an AX-7 with a Panfalo 80mm fan for cooling so I think I'm good there. Only thing I realised this morning was that with the 400W I'm gonna have toi split 2 of the connectors to power my cd rom and my case fans. Hope that doesn't affect anything too much

Another thing you said

I would avoi8d enermax PSU's. I reccomend fortron PSU's. Many of your premium priced name brand quality PSU's are made by sparkle/fortron.

Thought I posted this already: Get either a Antec 400W or a ThermalTake 400W (best PSU right now... or if ya want 450W+, but you dont need higher than 400W -- its stupid)

Donator
Gonna jump in here for a minute...

Forget the 4600, for what you spend on one of those, you can get into a 9700 non pro. Get the 1700+ save a little money there, and get a better graphics card.

not too sure about the buffalo memory ... I always think of the Buffalo brand tools... (something to stay away from)

The AX7 is a pretty good cooler... doesnt stand up against the better solid copper coolers... but not bad. Might want to look at a slightly more powerful fan (read a bit more noise.)

Overall, not bad choices.

Congrats.

Hello,

the best way to get a radeon is here:
http://www.hardwareheaven.com/showthre...threadid=14868

for the first question:
try it with your 330W PSU, I have a 300W NoName and it works very well !

for the second:
I agree to WyreTheWolf save the money and buy a 1700+.

don't get an 0312 week xp1700. I have read only bad things about those. Well bad in the sense that they just won't give much over 2150Mhz or so. If you can find an 0310 (any would be better than 0312 but WMPW is the best one) get it rather than the 0312.

nothing wrong with the 9700 pro

I too have an ax-7 and does just fine for me! Has my xp2100 b at 2.3Ghz right now at 200x11.5 sitting at 35c idle and 39c full load

by "rails" I meant your voltage lines. You have a 3.3v line a 5v line and a 12v line that are critical for stablility. If you use motherboard monitor 5 it will give you those voltage readouts. As you OC it stresses the PSU and generic or underpowered power supplies will not keep the system stable.

edit - this 0309 is supposed to go very good. can be had here for $61 (third one down) http://www.atacom.com/program/atacom...PAGE=AK7P_CPUX

System Specs

xp 1700+ / 1800+
nf7 (-s) rev 2.0
twinmos / winbond bh5 / ch5 ram
radeon 9700 pro / np

my xp 1700 is running atm @ 13,5 * 167 = 2250~mhz
with 256 mb twinmos bh5 2,5 ghz wasn´t a problem.
