overclocking
ive been overclocking my operton 185 recently, with a multiplyer of x13 and ext clock of 220mhz.
its running at about 2850mhz, temps are nice and low (idle 35) underload 40-45c im running a zalman CPU cooler, but whenever i start to overclock it anymore i run into stability issues (i think?) my games will have errors are crash (AOC, CS:S), WMP will crash, firefox will crash... it says its due to a error in the program, but when i turn down the mhz it goes back to normal... the thing is, my temps are fine! i don't get it, im pretty new to overclocking and i adjust in VERY small steps. but what am i missing??

It's likely that the CPU needs just a little higher voltage to run stably at the new speed. Now increasing the voltage will make it run hotter and way too much can be dangerous, but keep doing small steps and you'll be fine. That CPU is probably not a very easy overclocker so increasing the voltage might not necessarily make able to run very much faster, but with a little patience you should be able to find a sweetspot. Personally I'd have a go with raising the voltage no more than about 0.1-0.2V and find out what kind of stable clock that can give you.
You may also have to lower the memory clock as you increase the system bus further. Use the program CPU-Z to find out what the memory clock ends up at with various settings. CPUID |

Not hard, just not as easy as Intel... to the OP: Sounds like you need more voltages

Why is it Beeping!?!?!

yeah AMD's thing is a little different in the realm of OCing because of the architecture. It can be frustrating but in the end you feel like you've accomplished something
