Ok anyone recall this thread?

One off chance that someone was going to get it right, and low and behold, an announced prize at the end of the rainbow apparently...

Anyways, initally i didn't have a clue what i was going to get, figured something relatively small, cheap, whatever, there wasn't any information, later on i get the message to submit my address information and whatnot as well as told what i'm to be receiving. A AMD Dragon Kit. No information was provided until later of what exactly this kit included.

Anyways, a few weeks go by, and then today, DHL rolls right up to my doorstep here at the store. Pulls out a relatively short but large box. I sign for it, clean a space on my workbench, and emediately realize what it is.

So i grabbed the camera, and pop some shots, a few of it being opened and then some of the goodies themselves.

(i was a little concerned when i opened the kit and found a rolled up waud of pubble wrap between the 2 main boxes and then none of the boxes themselves secured, the cpu just flopping around in the box inside another box not very well protected, we'll see when i get the parts necessary to put it all in the cosmos 1000 i've got here waiting for them.)

Btw, the last picture is comparing the x1900XTX ATI card to the HD4870x2 that i've received

What i received:

AMD Phenom II x4 940 CPU
ASUS HD4870x2 DDR5 2gb Video Card
Asus M4A79 Deluxe Motherboard

Here we go:

i'll be presenting some pictures as i install it.. and when i get it up and running..

i just have to order the required parts... such as a heatsink, possibly ram, a powerful PSU

Currently i can get a Enermax Galaxy 1000watt or OCZ Elite Extreme 1000watt.

Otherwise i have to special order a Cosair 1000watt

Not sure which of the 3 would be my best bet either of the 2 i mentioned will cost me roughly 320+

cant go wrong with any of those , tho i would lean towards the galaxy.
fyi im running 2 raptor hd (was 3), xfi tit sound card, 280 gtx, a plex burner & lg bd reader, 8x 120mm fans, a d40 at 3.6, 4 gig ram, h2o cooling, & various lights. all on a toughpower 850 with absolutely no issues. so unlees you have specific needs or the price difference aint that much u might want to consider someting in the 800 range. i also think i could have gone with a 750.

i'm fully aware that i don't need that much power if all i'm running is the basic components... 700watt should be more then plenty...

however, if i plan to get another HD4870x2 as well as raid a bunch of drives together.. PLUS overclock... i think i want to provide as much solid power to the system as possible

Go for a True 120 eXtreme or True Black. Or Noctua has some nice (and very silent) coolers. Those would be my recommendations. ^^

If I ever want to do some more hardcore gaming I'm gonna have to upgrade again soon.. I was going to go the Intel, Nvidia route. I'll be interested in the benchmark comparos for similar priced stuff from Intel/NV...

I received the same kit too! It's great except the 4870x2 I received is (perhaps) faulty, waiting for a solution to it then I'll post some pictures as well ^_^
