AMD kit winners - post your overclocks here
Ok AMD have asked me now that time has passed to get results from the guys who got the free kits. I have noticed longhorn is active with results and no one else has really posted their findings which is very disappointing.
I put my neck on the line getting you guys the kits, so I want to see results and findings that we can show to AMD. I want to see cinebench R10 results and something else, such as PCmark/3dMark. |

Re: AMD kit winners - post your overclocks here
i haven't been home pretty much for the last 2 weeks due to farm related tasks (get home, sleep, wakeup and back to work) I've posted a few 3dmarkvantage and other benchmarks in the thread i created as well as my various overclocking attempts)
When i get home i'll be redownloading a bunch of the benchmarks and running them, i didn't want to jump to fair into installing things on win7 7077, figured i'd overclocking and if i corrupted 7077, it'd be fine ![]() Still i want to see if i can break 3.8ghz Heres my Futuremark Vantae Compare link http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=1078707 Updated with new Clock speeds: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=1102580 And heres 3dMark06 compare link http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=10924229 Updated with new clock speeds: http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=11060457 (needs updating again) ![]() And just for amusements sake....

Re: AMD kit winners - post your overclocks here
Well, i've spent close to 2 and a half hours further fine tuning and working up the balls to break the 1.5v barrier.
Even at 1.5v, anything above 3500mhz was unstable.. it would crash out emediately under major cpu stress such as vantage/3dmark cpu test or cinebench... Anything over 1.5v initially resulted in no chance, unable to load windows, or when in windows, failing every time..... so i bumpped the ocz memory from 1.8v straight to it's orginal rated 2.1v and then started over @ 1.5v So i took it to 1.5125, fail 1.5250, pass @ 3.625ghz..... nice.. 1.5250, fail @ 3.75 1.5375, pass @ 3.75ghz... nice.. 1.5375, fail @ 3.8ghz 1.55v, fail @ 3.8ghz 1.5625v, FAIL @ 3.8ghz (i'm getting weary at this voltage, but my cpu temperatures remain below 50*C via amd overdrive and under 40*C via bios check. 1.5750v, Total Failure, cpu will not even start windows... odd..... back the cpu down to known good clock.... 1.5750v still would instantly crash windows loading... i mean i couldn't even see the loading logo... so i took this as a sign of "quit screwing around" and didn't bother going for the "third times a charm".... Backing down to 1.5625v, i was able to post yet again @ 4.3ghz, go into the bios and whatnot... obviously not doing anything beyond that though lol... I backed it down to 1.5375v, 3.75ghz with 250mhz FSB, and did the following a few times.... just to make sure.... Running according to amd overdrive idle...between 27*C - 31*C and loaded it seems to revolve around the 43-45*C range.... IMO that seems pretty good for what i feel is a massive amount of voltage being fed to the suckers. probably would have gotten a better result if i hadn't ran a few other things at the time just to make sure.. but still pretty damn good boost over 3.5ghz i think..

Just finished a 3DMark 03 Run
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=6125167 finally i placed in the top performance results of system similare to mine.... where as all the others i placed lowest or close to lowest in vantage/06/05 3dmark01se score here http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=9498120

Re: AMD kit winners - post your overclocks here
i'll try gunning for 3.8 in the weekend or tomorrow. i've had it perfectly stable on 3.6 for weeks now @ 1.45v, auto loose ram timings. tightening timings on ram at 3.6 seems to work ok too.
i seriously doubt i will get near 4ghz, last few attempts a few weeks back were fail. |

Re: AMD kit winners - post your overclocks here
yeah i was really hoping i could muster a 4ghz clock.. i mean i'm running cool enough considering.... the V10 is doing quite well i think, as the temperatures remain rather low even with high abient temperature of 25-29*C.... however when the ambient hits 16*C.. the cpu temperatures considerably start to drop off.
I have Liquid nitrogen available to me in relatively large quanities if i wanted, but i'm not that crazy lol.... i don't have the hardware to do it properly.

to be honest i'm not impressed with the bios of this asus board, but i gather from reviews that almost all asus boards have a similar bios.
So any of the other dragon kitters using windows 7?? |

Perhaps some comparisions are in order? Judas - I've just had a look in your 3d mark 06 comparison link, that rig is basically outperforming mine by around 100% in every test :S Are you still running it on the 600W PSU as you described there? Perhaps that's what holding back your OC?

Re: AMD kit winners - post your overclocks here
I've got similar results to you guys
Even if I start turning things up just slightly I begin to get BSODs and failure to boot into windows... it is perfectly stable at this speed however.

Most are able to hit 3.4-3.5ghz stock voltage, but the general concensus seems to be a full .15v increase to get even 3.6ghz stable. Some people are lucky though and have managed a 3.8ghz at stock voltage.. but it's relatively rare. I'd increase my FSB and HT speeds considerably more, but my ram won't take it. Unfortunately last night, after running a number of tests, the system BSOD'd and i had to bump the cpu voltage back up to 1.55v for a stable 3.75ghz clock. I'm going to be rerunning 3dmark06 and vantage later today with the new values so that it's up to date, but at 1.55v, cpu idle jumps 5*C and the loaded temperature gets into the high 40s and twiddles with 50*C

And yes i'm still running the 600watt GamerXStream..... it MAY indeed be holding me back, but the suckers sitting rock solid stable, my APC UPS however is registering overload whenever i fire up anything 3d related. I would NOT be shocked if i was loading the psu to near if not AT it's rated maximum output. I'm waiting on a Corsair 1000watt modular PSU.... Although i'm not faund of the idea of only having 2 12v high output rails, i still like the idea of 4 or better yet 5-6 12v rails. Guess we'll see. BTW, anyone else find that 3Dmark05 just doesn't seem to make use of crossfire whatsoever, or 3DMark01se? I mean my score in 3dmark03 is rediculious compared to either of the other 2.

Re: AMD kit winners - post your overclocks here
The intel nvidia setup scores higher than the phenom easily. i7 in cinebench hits 20k on multi cpu. the sli 260s overclocked jus about beats the 4870x2 by a small margin.

By the way Judas - why don't u like a smaller number of rails? I've always gone for as few as possible, as this reduces the risk of overloading a single rail.

Yeah, I'm pretty fond of 2-4 rails and that's it for me. Is there something you know that I don't?

Re: AMD kit winners - post your overclocks here

Because i've had a few cases where the least amount of rails actually resulted in overloading of those rails. In my first case every i had a OCZ Powerstream 600watt completely unable to cope with handling 2 12v rails and diliver the power even when properly balanced to the best of it's ability. I find it quite a bit easier when each individual rail is rated at a relatively decent amperage.... preferrably 16amp minimum and 20amps maxmimum needed, anything between is acceptable (18 would be my own recommended value though).. I'll take 6 18amp 12v rails over 2 40-50amp 12v rails any day. But if the psu isn't designed well enough anyways, where it's essentially a single 12v rail to begin with and is only splitting it... it's really of no benefit anyways. This is where i stretch/bend/break the rules as corsairs 1000watt psu design is apparently 3 psu's in one... 2 500watt and with a much smaller psu to back up the other 3.3/5v rails. Best to go read up on it yourself for interests sake ![]() Either way, provided i can properly load balance the connections, i would hope the manual has the suggested layouts for how to connect it up for proper balance, if they had designed it in a 4x 12v rail setup, balancing the load would be easier, 5+ rails would make it much easier yet. Quick reference 6 rail layout figured.... 12v1 ~> motherboard 12v2 ~> 12v 4+4 cpu + Sata + Molex connectors (etc) 12v3 ~> PCI-ex 1 12v4 ~> PCI-ex 2 12v5 ~> PCI-ex 3 12v6 ~> PCI-ex 4 If corsair so much as just labeled their connectors a little bit better, without even present true rails but suggestive labeling... considering the 2x500watt psu's crammed into one big unit... it would make balancing easier.. X-12v-zz, where X refers to the first or second main internal PSU's... (birzarre idea perhaps) 1-12v1 ~> Motherboard 2-12v1 ~> 12v 4+4 cpu + sata + Molex connectors (etc) 1-12v2 ~> PCI-ex 1 2-12v2 ~> PCI-ex 2 1-12v3 ~> PCI-ex 3 2-12v3 ~> PCI-ex 4

Re: AMD kit winners - post your overclocks here
i've tried setting everything extremely low and loose just to make sure they weren't the cause of instability at higher frequencies....
the only logical things i could do is change the psu (working on it) and hope that a big ass 1000watt corsair will present better stable power.. but i doubt it considering that the rails with a multi-meter are checking out spot on even under load..... It's actually quite impressive.

Was just the HT for me it lowered the strain on the memory and allowed a higher CPU speed.
Either way just trying to help out guys some cool stuff

hmm... maybe i'm lowering it to far?
i mean i dropped it right down to the lowest... i didn't imcrementally drop it..... but then again hitting 200fsb or 250fsb with no real change in effect....

I actually increased the Hypertransport to 5200, along with the CPU-NB and have notice good memory Gains, this is of course with my 955. Both are currently running 2600 MHZ ("FSB" is still stock)
