Best P4 533mhz chip?

I am wondering what the best choice for a new P4 processor to overclock would be. The motherboard I have (ASUS P4S8X) supports up to the 533 MHz fsb 2.8 GHz soc 478 P4. Just wondering, is this 2.8 going to be the best I can get or are there some with a slower clock rate that are as easy to bump up to close the same lvls at a lower price?

Donator
I think the 2.4b was supposed to be a really good overclocker

System Specs

P4 2.2 Northy

From looking at an overclocking DB, this seems to be the strongest overclocker.

Yup, I agree - got mine upto 3GHz (stable with 1.65 vcore) upto 2.8 with no vcore mod.

I believe certain chips don't like having the vcore pushed very much over 1.55v though, so overclocking becomes very hard.

well, i can have mine OCed to 3.32Ghz(from the 2.67Ghz version), but my memory cant stand it, so i'll have to under clock the memory first in order to do that.......anyway, i'm currently running mine at 3.1 with default voltage without any problems (with high memory frequency, of course).........still waiting for my other ram cause i just stuffed that up last week (3.2 is my next target)....so, in my oppinion, the 2.67 is quite a nice overclocker.......by the way, did i mentioned that i'm using the same mobo as yours??

2.4B

Generally this CPU is the overclocker's choice. 3.366 @ 1.7 V (Actual Voltage is actually at that point as well!)

Told ya before

Spark 7. Read my signature fellas Crucial PC2700 2 x 512 MB and the rest should be in there. I've also purchased 2 new fans lately. 1 to cool NB and the other as a top exhaust fan. More airflow.

Silverfox will become famous soon enoughSilverfox will become famous soon enough

I just recently read an article on the 2.4b and here is the review if your still interested: http://www.ocaddiction.com/reviews/c...boverclocking/ They used the Abit IT7 max mb in their review. The Abit mb is still fairly high priced, but has a relatively high rating on it from most all reviews I have read when it is mated with the 2.4b processor.
