A question about "burning in"
I have a question about the "burning in" of processors, and performance increases. Pretty much, I am wondering what you use to burn in, how long, any articles or posts that anyone could link me to for more info? I have no idea about it, I also have a 9700 pro, wondering about that one too..Thanks!

if you feel you need to burn in, sisoft utillities has a pretty good all around 'burn in' program. run it overnight, BEFORE you do any overclocking. it is also good for testing overclocks though there are better programs for that. i beleive there is a good thread on that in either the tech or overclocking forum.

1. Sandra Sisoft-great memory burn in tool and all around proggy.
2. 3dmark01 and 03-great benchmark and stressing tools, useful also to see and compare how your system is running compared to others. 3. WCUIPID-one of the best tools to show exactly what you are running at and all the important info you need concerning your CPU and everything. As far as overclocking your 9700 i myself like powerstrip. You can use Rivatuner or RadClocker if you like. As far as any more just take a little time and read through the great forums here in the overclocking and modding sections or technology ones. Feel free to post any questions you have as we are here to help. Also it would also be of more benefit of you put up your system specs and such, thanks.

I like powerstrip myself and you can get nice overclocks with the 3.4 they have out, as good as any other program out there. The Hot keys are nice too, I can change the clock speed of my card while I'm playing a game

I'm not disputing the above point's cos they are very true and I have used these methods myself, but you can also burn in by upping your voltages slightly and then simply using your computer as normal by playing a recent, demanding game with all the visuals and effects maxxed out. You can check your temps whilst or after playing to see what effect your having.

Thank you all for your replies. Since I have been reading and posting on these boards for the past few weeks, I have learned ALOT! I appreciate all your help in my transformation from a n00b to someone who may know a few things! Thanks again!

I am really doubtful about the burn-in craze. Starting to hear from many ppl about it just being bogus. Anyone had a reallife experience with burning in making a difference? I would like to here it.
