after market GPU cooler?
first off this is based on a sapphire 4870
This one in particular Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100279-1GL Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards My question is if I plan on Overclocking it a little bit, should I purchase a aftermarket cooler Additionally The case I plan on using is a Silverstone Raven RV02. |

Re: after market GPU cooler?
In all seriousness the aftermarket air GPU cooling is rather weak these days. Almost all of them just recirculate the hot air around since they don't exhaust it out. You could always just crank up the stock coolers fan if you don't mind the volume.

Moderate GPU overclocking will be fine with the stock cooler

Re: after market GPU cooler?
I'd go along with the general consensus - third-party GPU coolers are a slight cooling performance increase but primarily they're just quieter, at least for dual-slot cards. I got mine because the card ran quite hot but the fan was really loud.
