Hi...need some advise regarding overclocking of my mainboard.
As you can see from my sig, the mainboard that I am currently using is Gigabyte's 8IHXP. I am already running my 2.4B at the max clock speed of 156MHz which translates to a 2.8GHz processor. However...I KNOW that I can go higher...at least up to 3GHz. I have been waiting for a bios update from Giagbyte for like a gazillion years already, hoping that it might have higher clock speed options but to no avail. My question is..what can I do to push my 2.4B to 3.0GHz. Is bios updates the only options or am I stucked?Any help would be greatly appreciated...so much so that I will even tell my great-grandchildren about you. Many generations from now....my family will recall your name and recount in bated breath how you helped their great-grandfather to overclock his 2.4 to 3.0GHz. Yes...I am that desperate.

i have the same problem as you do, i have looked for a new bios or a hacked one for a long time. i have the same mobo, with pc1066, and a p4 2.8. right now it is not overclocked (it is not even running till i get my RMAed 9700 back). but i was able to overclock it to like 3.3 ghz. which was 156. does anyone know how to fix this. also did you have any problems when you did this, like reboots or anything, i didnt the first time, but then i went back to defaults for awhile and when i tried it again i would reboot half way through the benchmark, but it seems like atemp problem pry cuz my room is at a higher temperature. however if i get the temp down a bit it is very stable with no problems and very fast.
Is there a way to make it so that the fsb can be raised some more, there are many of us out here that would like to know. cooter |
