MY 1.5v 2100+ overclocking adventure on a problematic mobo
I have an av133-c mobo that doesn't like thoroughbred-B procs, but it almost works with them. I was playing around trying to figure out why it wont boot, and I tried setting the FSB to 105, and it finnally booted, but it listed the speed as 2099MHz!!! I has a multiplier of 20x! I tried unlocking the chip, but it still will lock on to a 20X multiplier no matter what I set it to. I have the great news to report that the chip will boot at 2.1GHz with stock voltages on watercooling, but the bad news is that with a FSB of 105 its still alot slower than my current setup at a 145MHz FSB. Now I just need to buy a good mobo and good DDR ram.
I didn't run any benchmarks because I figured it wouldn't be faster anyways. This chip is making me so excited I think I will burst, but I'm too cheap to buy a new mobo and ram. I think now that I know it can run well I'll be able to rationalize the descison better. |

Hmm..
Get one of them new NForce 2 Mobos. They officially support DDR400 I think. Or you can wait a few weeks or so for the NForce 3 board which ASUS is supposed to release Le Gasp
