Re: Beer crate case

How did the plastic stand up to the screws or did you have to use a nut/bolt setup?

That kind of plastic should hold a screw pretty well.

The plastic is indeed very good for normal screws, but this works as well

well and that way....especially since you are going to be taking it apart and reassembling it several times....I think the bots is a much better idea so as to not strip out the plastic on screws

Also, you do realize that increasing the % by volume alcohol content of your drink (even though Jeager is DELICIOUS) will actually probably result in a slower case mod project? LOL Jk

Re: Beer crate case

Would you consider going mATX and putting the PSU at the bottom (or side depending on how you have the case) to draw air in and venting it out the front?

I'm not sure if there would be enough room but you may be able to put the CD/DVD drive above the PSU since most mATX boards only come down far enough to use one or two PCI slots.

Thank you. Maybe some of the pics will help (since I can't read the posts )

I have some options for placing the PSU, but then I will need to ruin the outside of the case (I'm planning to just put screws through the crate and us the old PSU mounting from the old case. You can then fasten it easily, but it isn't that pretty )

Re: Beer crate case

I posted the link because of the pics since they show the case at different stages of progress (though I see that he went for a different interior layout). There isn't much in the text anyway, though he does say that he sent the pictures to the brewery and that they gave him a fridge full of beer, that may be worth keeping in mind

No worries, I'm considering doing some simple mods to another case (remember that Aopen case in 'Show your new stuff'?)

Re: Beer crate case

I have seen some sweet mods done to some generic cases. One that I saw was your average beige case that had the front panel modified with some bondo/filler to resemble a jet intake similar to most Aerocool cases, there was a window put in it, fan holes cut in a honeycomb pattern, all disassembled, powder coated inside and out and put back together.

It wasn't that great on the inside but outside it looked great.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you can do.
