nVidia GT 240 OC opinion...

Hi,
I bought a Palit nVidia GT 240 a while ago, and today I tried to OC it for the first time...

The default clocks were 550/1700/1340 (MHz, Core/RAM/Shaders). I used the techpowerup GPUTool which tests each independently, and got to these clocks:
GPU: 670 MHz (max, limited in BIOS)
RAM: 2100 MHz (PC freezed when it tried to go more)
Shaders: 1700 MHz ( too scared to let it go to max )

Temp didn't go higher than 76C .

I would like to ask for opinions on how safe it is to leave the card like that 24/7 ... anyone fried a card like that maybe ??

You won't fry it without raising voltages and the cooler certainly seems good enough given that temperature reading. Try a few different games and if it's stable there as well then you're set.

Huh, what program are you using to overclock?

Since I don't think there's a limit for the GPU...

Thanks for the responses...

I used GPUTool from TechPowerup (as previously stated), it won't go any higher, and it doesn't crash so...

I tried the Unigine Heaven benchmark a couple of times, and I will try COD:MW2 and NFS:Shift as they are the only games I currently have.

You can try Rivatuner, raise the limits and go further

Those are some good OC's..you should be proud. What's the performance game like? Maybe post some benchmarks before and after

I would be proud if it wasn't so easy, I just clicked find max 3 times (Core, Memory, Shaders) and that was it.

As for benchmarks I only have the unigine heaven now so here are some numbers from before and after (memory wasn't on max OC of 2100, but 2060):

Re: nVidia GT 240 OC opinion...

OC'ing used to be harder then I adjusted mine in 10mhz increments until it was unstable then backed it off a bit.. takes a long time with the testing and all

Anyhow, those are some very good improvements, +5fps for a single click sounds good to me!
enjoy it man

Thanks a lot.
I plan to get BioShock 2, so I should see the full benefit from the OC in a while.
