My new logitech mx518
So Logitech decided to hook me up with a prototype of the sucessor to their popular mx518, and here's some pics:
This is the old one: ![]() The new one: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Btw I was kidding about the prototype stuff. I actually modded my mx518 because I couldn't stand how ugly the regular 'dented' paintjob looked. It's a lot more stylish and stealthy now, and it has a better grip due to the coarse texture. |

Yeah - it looks much better. How did you get that granite effect?

Re: My new logitech mx518
I used some kind of spray paint that you'd normally use on BBQs or stoves (resistant to very high temperatures). I don't know if it's going to last very well, but at least the paint is not going to melt under my hand.

Re: My new logitech mx518
That's a nice effect - is it a rubbery feel or a more sand paper-ish feel?

Re: My new logitech mx518
More like the latter, though it's very pleasant to hold. First I was looking for a rubbery paint, but I couldn't find anything decent so I just used whatever I found at home.
So far the paint seems really resistant.

Cool looking, a bit like their G500. But I wonder if it's healthy to be touching such paint all day long.

Re: My new logitech mx518
Once the paint is dry I don't think there can be any harm. Besides, I never hold it all day long. That g500 looks alright, but I prefer mine.
By the way, the pictures I posted don't really do justice to how fine it looks, there's like a orange hue, in reality it's a lot more black.

Re: My new logitech mx518
looks really awesome man, I may do something similar to my MX518 as it's starting to look pretty beat up. What happened to the logitech logo thing that was in the middle of the now granite looking piece?

Re: My new logitech mx518
looks nice, and i hope it is good to hold. my friend painted his G9 but that was a dissaster the paint came off some of the places, and it felt really bad to hold.

Looks great! Makes me wish that I still had my MX518. The only difference is that I actually liked the dented look. Very industrial like the rest of my build. I would hope that it would be healthy to touch the paint if it is originally intended for things that cook food ![]() ![]()
