painting the inside of my case

I've just finished adding a bunch of cable management holes to my Tempest Evo and in the process really scratched up its insides. As a result I'm thinking I need to repaint it (matte black). Given I've never done this before I have some questions:

1) Is there a way to paint it without taking out the rivets?
2) What paint do you guys recommend?
3) Any tips?

Thanks a bunch

Re: painting the inside of my case

I do not have this case. However i've painted a number of cases myself both with and without de-riviting. Go out and get yourself 1 can of primer. The 2-4 cans of your color (depends on case side) also pick up a roll or 2 of Blue Painters tape. Use the painters tape to cleanly cover anything you dont want painted. Now hang the case up in a tree outside. When spraying move in long sweeps side to side going past the surface (if you stop short and move back it will collect at the area you stop and be too thick or drip there.) 1st do a moderate coat of primer. It does not need to be solid just a decent coating. Let it dry for a few hours. Now doing the paint coats. Do them in many light coats in the same manner, spraying past the surface etc. Better to do 10 light coats and get full coverage then one nasty heavy coat that gets uneven and drippy. Let dry about 20 min between coats. I'd then let it dry over night after the last coat

Re: painting the inside of my case

I would recommend swapping the case with a new one as it's probably more cost-effective (though more expensive).

That's a completely ridiculous solution to a problem that was solved a while ago. I posted this thread a month ago, got no replies until today, the case has been drilled to have extra cable management and was painted, all done a month ago when I asked.

Re: painting the inside of my case

Post up some pics of the finished case would like to see it.

The Midgard we just reviewed has a full black interior or a white one if you get the white knight which is also pictured: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/review...roduction.html

White knight: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/review...te-knight.html

I've never really thought about it but I guess it does make the world of difference when you look at them there.

I unfortunately did not document the whole process (and it was some process lol) so I just snapped some photos of the finished product today. I still have that shoddy webcam to work with, so quality is mediocre at best. You can find them here.

Re: painting the inside of my case

Looks really good! My cable management in my case looks pretty much exactly like that. Nice and clean where it counts and total chaos everywhere else.

Re: painting the inside of my case

Thanks man, I tried making it neater where you couldn't see it too, but ended up making it a lot more insane instead. Case manufacturers will have you believe there's room behind the mobo tray for cables, but there never is enough room for a non modular PSU. The Tempest EVO does indeed have a little more room there than most cases, but I'm still thinking modular PSU will be a must for my next build.
