OverClocking: Need help Tuning my Rig

Evenin,

I picked up a Corsair A50 cooler, Installed it yesterday Currently very happy with its performance, Dropped idle temp about 4c and 100% load temps about 13c

My current specs are

Athlon II x4 @ 3.2Ghz (2.6 Stock) 245x13 Ram is currently at 1633Mhz @ 9-9-9-24 1T

Idle is 28c Prime95 load running for 5 mins raises the temp to 44c

Motherboard settings are:

CPU-nb Ratio - 8x
Freq - 1980mhz
ACC - off

FSB/Dram ratio 1:3.33
Speed 1633mhz

Ht Link x8
Freq 1960
PCI-E Freq 100mhz

All voltages are currently Auto: CPu-Z shows currept cpu voltage around 1.43

Voltage options are:

CPD VVD
CPU-NB VVD
CPU
CPU-NB
DRAM
NB
HTLINK
SB

Ive gotten it to about 3.4ghz it BSD' and I lost the settings, I believe the mem ram was at 1733 at the time and may have been the reason behind the crash.

So I would like some suggestions on voltages and what I should fine tune and what I should leave on auto. I am shooting for atleast 3.8ghz

Can't help you with the overclocking, I'm afraid, but I would suggest leaving it about another day before overclocking again. Reason being, manufacturers suggest (and I quite happily go along with it) to let thermal paste settle in for a good few hours before attempting to overclock. This gives a much better cooling performance.

Im actually very happy with the cooling performance as it is. Browsing/playing music/playing TF2 it doesnt go above 39c only when i intentionally try to heat it does it go 43-44 which I think is very respectable

Re: OverClocking: Need help Tuning my Rig

Depending on how well the Athlon OC's, notching the volts for it maybe required. It has been a long time since I have OC'ed anything, but I would not set any of the volts to auto. Basically this will impede fine tuning for the optimal precision you want to aim for.

If the DRAM has caused the BSOD, loosen the timings and drop the command rate. See what divider options are there in BIOS. Does your mobo auto lock the PCI Bus?
