I modded an AMD Hs/fan to fit on my 9700pro, I know it's been done before but I'm well chuffed!
Here's a 3Dmark2001 score at an artefact free 450Mhz core/369Mhz Mem :3Dmark2001 No volt mods either! |

Try the newest Omegas, they might have the slight performance improvement you need to break 20k.

You need tighter mem timings or just more FSB if you can. That'll give you the extra 20 points.

Very nice GacZ!!
What power supply are you using in that rig? And can you post the voltage of your +5V rail at both idle and load? |

i finally got round to volt modding my card too, got it to run artifact free in 2001 at 470/360, but in the more intense benchmark (2003) it would do it artifact free at 455/360
3dmark2001 - 20139 3dmark2003 - 6512 not bad for a £180 card

Neon, I would post some pics, but a) I have no digi camera and b) I'm about to dismantle my computer and put it in a new case as it looks a bit like frankensteins monster with masking tape holding the sides on and such alike. My main system will be down for about 3 weeks while I do this (I'm on my laptop at the moment). For the time being I'll give you a rundown of the specs:
Barton 2800 @ 218 x 11.5 (2511Mhz) at 1.9V Thermalright slk800 with Delta EHE 80mm fan 2 x 512Mb Twinmos 3200 fitted with copper sleeves, timing at 5-3-3-cas2 at 2.9Volts Abit NF7-S V2.0 at 1.7 Chipset voltage, V12 bios (most stable) RD1 bios saviour Hercules 3D prophet 9700pro With AMD Hs/fan, no Vmods.....yet Qtec 550W PSU (cost buttons!) 5.08V on 5volt rail, hardly fluctuates regardless of load, Hardwired Maxtor 80Gb ata133 7200rpm HD Audigy2 OEM Zoom PCI modem 4x120mm fans blowing in on the side 3x80mm fans blowing out -- top, font and back dualfan HDD cooler some generic 40mm fan and sink on the Sbridge, Stock cooling on the Nbridge (may swap this for a Gf4ti cooler and ceramique) Airconditioning! |

I have a Antec TruePower 330 and I've been told there are adjustable pots to boost the rails if I remove the housing. I'm going to check that out this weekend and see if I can boost that +5V to at least stay over 5V under load. |

I will have to volt mod it to allow the card to be 100% stable at 450Mhz. At the moment it sometimes locks at 450Mhz and i'm sure this is down to a power shortage as I've not seen any artefacting at this speed. I might sound lazy, but can someone post a link to the 9700pro Voltmods, please? The only one's i've found links to are either incomplete, forum threads or have been taken down.

Just search for 9700 pro voltage mod on this forum, I'm sure you'll find the info there.
Things with Radeons is that once I go high with the memory, my core has to go lower. I can go all the way to 468Mhz core, but my memory has to stay low. |

What cooling are you using at that speed to cool it?

I would up the memory first near to its top spot, then the core.

Memory gives you the bandwidth. Definetly crank the memory first.
