NEC 1300, firmware upgrade ROCKS

some of you know I had a NEC 1000 and I firmware flashed it to 1100 for 4x burning, this worked great for me.

Recently the NEC 1300 has been selling for £99 so I sold the 1000/1100 and bought a 1300, and ive been very impressed. I wanted the additional minus r support it brings because im finding PLUS R discs are still expensive.

Our local store has been selling these green coloured WHITE LABEL DVD minus rs = 100 discs for £40 with the only downside they burn at 1x speed.... slow but cheap.

Visiting http://herrie.rpc1.org/ here I found a modified bios for the 1300 which not only allows region free DVD movie watching but also added media support, so following the simple instructions and inserting one of the cheap 1x discs I find they now burn perfectly at 2x !!!! its been a good day.

I recommend any of you who own a NEC 1300 go install that newest modified bios, it ROCKS !

Yup, that is a good site. When I bought my TDK 440N which is based on the NEC1300A, the first thing I did was go to Herrie's site and look for his modified firmware. He's currently updating his firmwares and for free too!!
