I just got a new kx7 333 mobo. It's my first abit purchase. I've got it all plugged up and immediately boot into bios and pc health (to make quick sure hsf is assembled right and my xp don't fry). There I notice that my 12V rail is doing a yo-yo. From 12.09 to 12.40 which in turn is causing a few other volts to bounce a bit to (but not nearly as extreme as the 12V) My vcore goes back and forth from 1.74-1.76 and my 5v rail moves just a bit occasionally. But every second (appears to be each reading from the sensor) the 12V has a new number. PSU is sparkle 400W with only cpu fan plugged in. Tried 300W generic PSU and still have same fluctuating line so leads me to believe its mobo and not PSU.
My question is, "is your kx7 or abit board like this?" or are there ones out there that hold a steady 12V line? if so, I may try RMA for nother one. if not guess I'll just deal with this one. It don't drop below 12 but I'm shooting for 8x200fsb and really will want stability..... |

its not the board its the psu it has ajastble pots that means you can set the 12 v more or 5v more witch takes some from the other rail just pute some more on the 5v one and the voltage of the cpu wont move alot

not quite. one pot controls both 5v and 12v rails and I already tweaked mr. sparkle
It's not PSU cause in asus a7v it's solid as a rock. put it on kx7 and get ~.31 fluctuation. Just sent it off this morning for RMA anyway. Already got next board on it's way. Had a bud of mine test it for me before it leaves the States and it's only .06 fluctuation. Hopefully it be here next week

have seen it, more on the early kr7a's
built a few kx7's...usually the voltages are solid after the psu is trimmed for the board. ...though i just handled one with a dodgy mem controller and the 12v moved more than i'd like to see...it's back to the reseller...
