Does anyone have this combonation and how far have you been able to oc it?

What are you using to cool it?

Are you using a "Barton" core processor? And what exact brand and model of memory are you using?

You have an A7N8X just like me, and the nForce2 chipset runs efficiently only when you run your CPU and RAM at the same bus speed...which means at PC2700 you're likely not going to have very much maneuvering room as far as increasing your bus speed and overclocking.

Oh and yeah, just to answer your question on cooling since I forgot, the recommended coolers for these AMD processors are: Vantec Aeroflow, Thermalright SLK800 or SLK900, and the CoolerMaster Aero 7+.

you should have enough room granted not as much as if you had an Abit NF7 but you'll be fine my rig is doing 2200 (11*200) at 1.7v same board and a 2400+ so you should be able to push it fairly far

I doubt he'll be able to push 200MHz with PC-2700 RAM.

System Specs

Vantec Aeroflow = sucks

The slk seires/ thermalright are the top coolers, followed by the MCX / be swiftech/ , etc

Well Justin21 has got pc2700 and he pushed it to 200 so I'll give it a shot.

I am also leaning toward slk series cooling.

You won't be disappointed with a SLK-800 or SLK-900.

I know it is a baby step....but in my quest to overclock since I started the thread I am running my cpu from 2.08 ghz to 2.21 ghz. So far it hasn't risen 1 degree in temp. This is with only 4 case fans and 1 cpu fan. all stock. I wonder How well I can do with serious cooling systems in place.

Can anybody tell me the purpose of running your memory at the same bus speed as your cpu....

thanks in advance

I just ran pcmark04 with my above oc'ed settings and my temps peaked at 57c for my diode and 50c for my cpu my motherboard stayed at 23c. Again I only have 4 case fans plus the cpu fan all stock. Are these temps within reason?

I did it with generic PC2700 too and my timings were 2-3-3-6

nForce2 chipset motherboards are specifically optimized to run your CPU and RAM at the same frequency - at "100%" or "in sync". Simply said, the tremendous performance advantage that nForce2 motherboards see compared to VIA and SiS chipsets is lost when you run your memory asynchronously to your CPU. System stability is always supposedly lost if you run asynchronously too...although I've never tested it myself.

Your system will run faster at a slower FSB synchronized compared to a faster FSB asynchronized.
