The M810 is the cosmetically different twin of the ECS K7S5A. To overclock, you have two choices:
Get chfsb or SpeedFan and change the FSB from within windows, or get a hacked O/C bios from the ECS forums of ocworkbench.com or from http://pub65.ezboard.com/bk7s5amotherboardforum . Even though your mobo will then think it is a K7S5A, no worries as the only difference between the motherboards is the PCB color. Note that you will have no soft multiplier, no BIOS voltage selection, limited memory settings and FSB's limited to (synchronous) 100, 103, 107, 110, 112, 124, 133, 138, 142, 147, 150, 166 and 200. Suggest visit to http://www.ocinside.de/html/workshop...resistors.html to see what bridges to cut and paint on the CPU to set a decent multiplier for the O/C effort, as well. If you exhaust these suggestions, there are some other, exotic mods that can be made - involving soldering the motherboard... |

Well, your chip probably isn't unlocked, but I find it incredibly hard to believe that a cheaper ECS or PCChips (aren't they the same company?) board would allow you to change multipliers anyway. One thing, though -- the K7S5A was so popular of a board that people wrote an unofficial overclockers BIOS for it. Perhaps your board has one?

I know it's a leap of faith, you don't know me from a hole in the wall, but check out either the ocworkbench ECS forums or http://pub65.ezboard.com/bk7s5amotherboardforum (my favorite) and ask the peeps there: you should have no problem, other than normal flashing issues. Others have gone before you

You go to your mobo manufacturer's website and download the bios flash utility and follow the directions. Note: you will need to have a dos boot disk in order to safely do this. Also note: mess up and your board becomes a hunk of crap

For windows FSB changers, use SpeedFan ( http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php ) or chfsb ( http://pub65.ezboard.com/fk7s5amothe...picID=10.topic ). Personally I like SpeedFan
![]() (Edit) Oh, lie to SpeedFan and tell it you have an Elitegroup K7S5A, it has no setting for the PCChips M810... |

I always overclock for bandwidth (highest FSB) and then set the multiplier of my CPU for its max MHz at that FSB. Overall best performance that way, with the right cards, HD's etc. you won't have any problem with high buss speeds.

I have problem in the CPU PnP menu i can set my DRAM speed is now set to 100mhz i can change it to 133mhz i have pc133 Ram and i osume that pc133 means that it can run at a clock speed of 133mhz? Well if i change it in my BIOS and save the change and go to reboot it starts to reboot but gives me and error about ntfs.sys is missing or corpput i know it's not corpput because if i change the DRAM back to 100mhz it boots just fine? is it my RAM or some windows protection thang. Or does have somthin with my NTFS partition o dont know thats why im you guys know. Also i can change the cpu speed from 900mhz to 1200 its a 900mhz proc but if i change it to 1200 will make any different or just not work?
(EDIT: wow i just relized how bad i type when it's dark and i cant see the keyboard )

She wouldn't boot at 133 prolly because you were pushing your 900 (9X100) to 1200 (9x133) and it can't make it at stock volts (or, simply just can't make it).
The ONLY way to change the multiplier and Vcc on an un-modded 810/K7S5A is by changing the bridges on the CPU - see my previous posts in this thread for a link to ocinside.de and what bridges need to be changed... |
