Just raised my BH5 ram to 3.4V, lets see how far it goes

I'm trying to shoot for 298Mz FSB (I hear after 300 alot of peoples boards get really freaky and start accidentally killing componts are random) I'm not sure what will give out first at 5/4 though, the CPU or the ram or the chipset itself. (I wanna keep PAT on and keep the CPU voltage at 1.6V or lower)

The ram is still cool to the touch, so I'm not so worried about heat killing it, electromagnation (Thats a SP if I ever saw one) might be a problem, but I doubt it considering how many people push upwards of 3.5V though BH5 ram and its still going strong for them.

How did I push it to 3.4V? I raised the 3.3 rail on my PSU. I wonder what else might die if its that high...lol.

It was doing 240MHz@2-2-2 in my old AXP board with 3.3 in single channel. In dual channel with the intel board it want to 227MHz@2-2-3 with 2.85V.

EDIT: right now its 233MHz/2-2-3.

RAM at 3.4V is not safe.

Currently running 3.34v on my modded IC7-G with XMS3500 @ DDR46 2-5-2-2 with GAT at auto, enhanced, 5 clocks, enabled, enabled.

I've taken it to 3.4 volt whislt running memtest on my sticks in single channel.
Best I could muster up from a night of memtesting was DDR510 & DDR520 @ 2-5-2-2 with GAT disabled.

I got a 92mm fan blowing directly on my RAM as we speak so I'm not too worried about damaging my RAM.

2 cents...

OCing, Voltmodding your VC, Mobo, PSU is not "SAFE"

I wouldn't recommend it for 24/7 use...just a few hours use in that quest for 3DMark01SE/03 greatness.

Not condoning that but how many others have run their CPU's & Ram above warranty rated volts yet scream black & blue when they've stuffed up their CPU/RAM numerous other components & demand RMA on the components they wrecked themselves....

I run mine at 3.34v for 24/7 use.

Ppl saying that funny things happen once their fsb reaches or pasts 300fsb are just stating that Intel's AGP/PCI dividers aren't locking for them past 300fsb.

nVidia cards seem to handle the higher AGP bus a lot better than ATI cards do. If you got SATA Raid-0, just make sure you got a backup image of your OS etc. as well as maybe forking out the money for replacements.

No guts, no glory, as they say. I do hope you're self insured...

About weirdness above 300Mhz FSB - remember back in the Pentium/PII days when all the mainboard manufacturers had to redesign their boards so that no traces made 90 degree turns to avoid spewing RF all over the place? Might be something there eh...maybe not but...

Yeah I run mine at 3.34 for 24/7 usage too. I'm just going for the fastest intel rig on DH right now. (I broke 12100 in the PC mark memory test)

I have been able to drop the ram down to 2-2-2-6 timings, and I have been able to push it to 236MHz, at that point the mobo or chip gives out at 294MHz FSB because I cant get any increase with setting the devidor to 3/2. (Not that I would want to use the 3/2 devidor)

I have the ram at 3.34 right now because I didnt get ay boost by raising it to 3.4.

My theory is, dont push it if you cant replace it. NEVER RMA something you killed through overclocking/voltmodding/putting a cooler on wrong/or whatever. (Not sure how I will replace BH5 ram though...Maybe I'll get some D43-Bs)
