Just RMA'd one. Too noisy (despite the stated 22DbA) no fan control (Case temps at 28°C).
Has anyone got one of these psu'S? Does it work properly? IE controls its own and the case fans properly. Is it my load (see sig) which is causing the PSU to want to keep cool? My Enermax 431W PSU is currently running my rig again with, seemingly, no problems whatsoever, the fans are at full tilt and the airflow exiting the PSU is remarkably cool so I don't think so but I may be wrong. I do however need a more powerful PSU before I delve into liquid cooling especially for the VGA. I have asked for an Antec trupower 550W unit to be sent in return have I done the right thing? UPDATE Since writing this I have had a new SAF520 delivered despite my request and have found it to be unbelievably quiet. I jumpered it to life at work and had to check the fans where rotating before I could believe it was running. It also controls the case fans really well. Pros : My rig is now near silent. Extremely Stable voltages (checked with a fluke hand scope). The finish has to be seen to be believed (even if it is hidden in the top of my case). There are more connectors than you could wish for. Cons : My rig temps have gone up (4°C -CPU & 6°C system. I'll sort those with watercooling). All the rail leads are too long (server case length plus!). The fan monitor lead is too short (despite the above). No UK mains lead is supplied. I'll shorten the rail leads and add some length to the monitor lead and this'll be a PSU that should last me until ATX is a thing of the past.
