I'm finally making the switch from my NF7-S 2.0 and XP1700 to a Pentium 2.4C 800FSB or 2.8C 800FSB and the P4C800-E Deluxe.
I have the rest, like HDD, RAM, power supply, drives, video card, fans... alls im gonna need is a new CPU cooler, its between these two: Zalman CNPS7000A-AlCu (copper in the middle rest aluminum) Thermalright SP-94 Heatsink with a SmartFanII Anything I need to know for the Intel? Just random things.... and yes the 2.4C is going to be overclocked heh. Just gotta wait about 2-3 weeks till all 10 Maxtor 250GB HDD's are sold on eBay (click here if your interested) already 5 or 6 sold I think (im making quite a buck for these ).w00t

P4s are nice, especially overclocked, awesome memory bandwidth. let us know how you get on. just dont be upping the core volts to 1.9 (or 1.95 in my case atm with my barton).

Re: Re: Making the switch! Bye AMD
Haha, yeah I know to stick very close to stock volts when overclocking with the 2.4C.
What about the audio codec on the P4C800-E Deluxe, doesnt look too good. I'm so used to the SoundStorm on my NF7-S 2.0 I dont use anything else. I have a Soundblaster 5.1 PCI laying around in a box somewhere - should I pop it in and use it or should I stick to the codec on the motherboard. Or should I just buy a whole nother sound card. AI AUDIO (6-channel digital audio)
AI series motherboards employed the world's first intelligent audio CODEC. The 6-channel AD1985 audio CODEC automatically detects and identifies what types of peripherals are plugged into the audio I/O jacks and notifies users of inappropriate connection, meaning there will be no more confusion of Line-in, Line-out and Mic jacks. My Soundblaster Live 5.1+ will do for now, but I will need something better soon.and I think I will be choosing the 2.4C and SP-94 heatsink. motherboard already bought P4C800-E Deluxe

Funny, I'm thinking of going the other way from my next upgrade, as it says above my avatar I'm waiting to see how Socket T does before I make my decision
