Which p4?
So I'm buying a P4 in the next twelve hours, should I get a P4 2.8C or a 2.8E? I'll probably be running it on a P4S800D-E Deluxe. I'll definitely be overclocking with just air to start but perhaps go water or peltier later.

The p4 2.8E is a bit slower, and after seeing reports of the temps they reach (in one review the motherboard used got so hot it melted the plastic supports underneath it) i'd be inclined to go for the 2.8C (Northwood) instead. Whilst I hear the Prescotts overclock quite well those temperature issues would totally discourage me from buying one myself.

Go read the buyer reviews at Newegg. You'll find some interesting stuff in there.

I suggest the 2.4C, if not go with the 2.8C - the Prescotts arent too popular right now.

Why the P4P800? Anandtech really gushed over the 655TX SIS chipset which was why I was looking at it but if the P4P800 can overclock well and is stable....

Not really toms seemed to like it as well although they didn't gush like Anandtech did. I'll tell you Anandtech gushed like the ugly duckling cheeleader talking about the state winning quarterback.

Hmm I really can't tell you which board to go with..but ask around I choose my board from all good real user comments I heard about it. I would hate for you to buy something I say you should.. then you get a lemon and blame me.

P4P800 Deluxe
The best price/performance board for a P4 system right now. Either that..or the ABit equivalent. As for processors to get? P4 Northwood 2.8C would do better than a P4 2.8E right now. (Despite Legit Reviews' 3.75 GHz overclock)
I also suggest some high end RAM, you'll need it to overclock those P4s.

That's right I would solely blame you Necrosis
. I do need to get some better RAM for that board though, I'll be running on my Cheapo Geil stuff till I can get some real high speed RAM.
