scobywhru is on a distinguished road

I know some people put a coat of lacquer on the topside and sides wherever your not contacting surfaces you aren't cooling or surfaces being submerged, to keep the shin, but thats with watercooling not so sure about Air cooling

lol, how much do you look at your heatsink? I think plating it might diminsh heat dissipation

plating it would create a heat insulator, unless it is more heat-conductive that coppuer, you gonna use silver or something? (that would be expensive)

well if he wants it to look like copper the silver aint gonna be any use… but still a silver plated heatsink would look awesome… but then you would have to polish that aswell and so on… im not stressed at how my cu heatsink looks, im not into case modding

doesn't that defeat the purpose of a heatsink, to transfer heat? im not sure brass is as thermally conductive as copper

I have the Tweakmonster Ramsinks on Gigabyte 9800 Pro. They are copper with a thin tin coating..maybe electroplate over
the copper. Tin...as a rule is very thin, so I would think it wouldn't hurt the heat dissapation too much.

I've thought about this myself.

BTW...my Gigabyte which is admittedly semi heavily modded, will out clock my brand new 9800 XT.

The XT though is a project...

For the cooper and a quick fix...you might try some jewelry cleaner. Just lightly dab and polish...buff...rinse...repeat.
