Overclocking Question

I get an error when i overclock 5 mhz over what im at now i have a weak 2.4 533 p4... i oc to 2.9 and im pushing 30C idle 39C while gaming... if i go 5mhz more on my oc i get an error and it wont let windows boot up... suggestions?

....what are you changing... FSB? right... not sure if you can play with the Multiplier or not..... as for suggestions.... you might want to start by slacking off your memory timings..... but your pushing the PCI bus probably.... this is a no no when it gets to high as you could risk Data curruption and lose everything.. (on your hardrive)...also... upping the voltage just a tad could also push it over.... setting my barton to 3200+ with no change will get into windows on default settings.. (rather unstable though... upping the core to 1.7 settles it.... now setting to 3400+ results in no boot.... i just for the hell of it... hooked up another psu and shorted the nessary pings... running dual psu.... it booted fine into windows..... so it could be a number of things... just start with the easiest... and work from there....

For now i just left it as it is... it runs fine

and i added 100 on my cpu test on 3dmark03
