P4 @ 3900-4000mhz

My mate bought my P4 3ghz from me, and I picked up a 3.4ghz P4 - I got it stable last night at 4 ghz on water at around 1.675 core volts, but found a nice figure was 3.9ghz with the ram at 1:1 5-2-2-2 F1-autox4.

Was nice to see 10,000 in pcmark02 CPU test, and over 24k in 3dmark01se. I can post some piccies and benchies later if anyone is interested, but im loving the P4s right now !

how is futuremark 2k3 detecting your CPU in project details ?! I am having troublle when My CPU is over 2.3GHz, Futuremark detects it as a DURON @ 2.1GHz ?!?@@#$ ??? Also, I assume it's presscot core, can you post your watter cooling specs and what temps do you get @ 4GHz @ 1.675V. I am interested in this because heard that presscots like to produce heat

Northwood

I heard the P4 3.4 GHz has 1 MB of L2 cache. And that it is a P4EE which couldnt pass for an EE so they're selling them as regular P4Cs with 1 MB L2 Cache. Sexy.

well thats the interesting thing, the back of the die, has all the cache sections there (its full), but its not activated, still 512k reported. im not sure if they are low grade EEs, ive heard the rumour myself. its a nice CPU though ill give it that, nice sitting at 3.9ghz and watching DIVX encoding at around 60fps

WU stepping is a good one, 3 ghz chip right? you should hit 3.5 on air with that and a good cooler. 3.6 water.

actually alot of people on the 3.4 chips have hit 4.3-4.5ghz on vapochill or promethia sub zero temps keeping them really stable. I did manage to push it to 4.1ghz last night before bed, and it "seemed" stable - didnt have enough time for stress testing, but it took alot more core volts and im not happy going over 1.65 volts on a northwood, I want this chip to last a while and remain cool. im getting mid thirties idle still and low 40s full load. 3.9ghz im happy with !

you can always run the ram at 5:4 or 3:2 if it cant handle it to let you get a higher clock.

there are still temperature problems, ive had several to test and yes they overclock great. perhaps some people dont call 50c-70c temps high with watercooling - nevermind the mobo temps , I do and I know alot of people on overclockers.com and xtremesystems.org forums do also. depends just how FAR you push them I guess but you need to, because clock for clock they arent really that great a CPU right now.
