47C on load... its quite a flux but i expect it from stock hs/f... well now that my as5 is starting set in i think the flux is lower @ 40-43C... i played ut2k4 for like 5 hours and only h it 43c... so we shall see my case temps are uber low 19C oh yeah you are in pro stock as i am in stock my 9800pro is lovely enuff for now

All AMD Athlon XP and Intel P4 up to 3.2Ghz, on air cooling, no volt mods, no extensive mods, changing the NB chipset cooling solution is allowed as long as it is with a passive or fan solution that is mounted in the stock location, and is stock appearing.

so I can compete with you ... but when I get my water installed I'll be in the super modified class.

The above description covers it pretty well. The "stock" description is only pertaining to the actual components in your computer, as in "unmodified" voltages beyond what the BIOS will allow, ANY air cooling solution on the graphics card, like the Artic Cooling and Zalman heatpipe, only "stock appearing" cooling solutions on the North Bridge, and of course "any" air cooling solution on the CPU.

Most people that are overclocking with the NF2 boards are using SLK-900 series cooling solutions with a 92mm fan. STOCK, is a class that covers MOST of the people here on DH. It is a low cost over clocking class. You take a basic NF7-S motherboard, AMD 2500+, 9800 Pro, good memory, add an aftermarket cooler to your graphics card and CPU.....and overclock it to see what you end up with


The REAL competition in this class is going to be for the P4 guys. There are several people on here with the 2.4c. With a limit of 3.0Ghz, this will really prove to be interesting!! This will really show who the "tweaker's" are with the Intel crowd.

well to be honest that is dumb what is the point of overclocking a 2.4c when you can get 3.3 ghz but you are in pro stock fighting against people who will dominate you hitting 3.8 ghz? It isn't very logical if the point is the overclock the hell out of your cpu.

oh yeah vampy is it 3.0 or 3.2 as Roadee has contradicting posts?

I remember it was 3000 in the beginning, but he later amended that to 3200.

I don't understand your other question. If you OC a 2.4 to 3.3, you'll be in Pro Stock. If you OC it to 3199 MHz, you'll be in Stock. You choose where to OC it to, where you get better results, against the Pro Stocks, or the Stocks.

In boxing there are weight limits, if you go over the limit, you are in another class with heavier and stonger boxers. That's why boxers strive to stay under the limit, so they can make weight, and fight in the class they hope to win in.
I imagine that's the kind of idea Roadee had with the 3200 MHz limit.

Yes, you can overclock the hell out of your CPU. And have fun doing it, run it like that all the time! These guidelines are only for the competition, to give the guys with older processors a chance for glory.

i think vampy's right gutter... we would be in pro stock... I'll see what I can get at under 3.2 and over... stock and pro stock respectively... my x800xt pe will give me a good boost over you i'm afraid... there's an air limit with P4s... most people can't see over 3.8 even with an sp-94.

... but then I'll be moving onto super modified... I'll have to see if I can enter all three simultaneously... lol

btw... what voltage are you using for 3.73??? What fsb/multiplier?

heh i gotta bump it up again its been pretty hot here lately (90's) no AC in the house so i cranked it down but here goes... 3.808 @ 272 fsb... multiplyer 14 1.675 volts

hows that? my 3.73 i didnt screen lol go figure... i need a new hs/f to go over 3.8

well the person that held the intel stock had a 3.0 @3.5ghz, so why was he in stock not pro stock? its just limiting the cpu range. if someone with a 3.4 has stock and is against someone with a 2.6ghz cpu. its not fair.

Drake, if it were by model, how would anyone verify what actual model CPU you had? Futuremark only displays Pentium 4 3765 MHz, for instance. How would anyone know if that were a 3.0 chip or a 3.4? That would be a huge opportunity for people to cheat with.

some five or more months ago I have mentioned that money limit should also be introduced into contest. This was because we now have 220$ system + 500$ graphics card in line for "stock" entry. Just dont say I didnt warn you. This is begening to be "who has more money" competition instead of "who has more skill" competition...We now have barton @ 2.0ghz with 500$ 6800GT overwhealming the barton @ 2.8GHz @ 280FSB just because of 500$ 68000GT... whater you like it or not, money limit will have to be introduced if you want this competition to be fair at all....

I won AMD super modified on a $200 system (which has since been replaced) just like you describe, and if you think for one minute that there is no skill involved in tweaking my rig than you have no idea what you are talking about. With the limits that we "testers" are taking our rigs to "Plug and Play" is replaced by "Plug and PRAY" You are starting to sound like a sore loser, put up or shut up.
