PangingJr is just really nicePangingJr is just really nicePangingJr is just really nicePangingJr is just really nice

my friend got a few HyperX PC2 9600 (DDR2-1200) kits, they're direct import from oversea since it first out, right now it's available everywhere and it's very cheaper than before.
he kills a lot of D9's based RAM himself, i'm talking about 20 kits or more, but he is loving the HyperX a lot and and carefully use them, lol.
all of the kits he is having can run DDR-1150MHz CAS4-4-4 @ 2.3V on Gigabyte P35 and and DFI P965P boards, which is very good at this voltage use.

G.Skill GA DDR2-800 CAS3 2.2-2.4V 2x1GB kit can also run something similar to the HyperX DDR2-1200,
but it also seems not available anymore.

i don't know about the rest of DDR2's, but then again, all of them are a lot of hit and miss.

Wanted to get in the competition, but I've been wondering...

What's the difference between Intel Pro and Intel Super Modified? Any place I can find a description of the different categories? Thanks

Sorry for the delay on seeing this....

It would seem the page giving the official rules is down.

Basically

Intel Pro - Aircooling only, no volt mods or other crazy mods done, and OCing.

Intel Super Modified - Go wild with anything you can get to obtain the highest score. Volt mods, LN2/Phase/Water/Air Cooling, basically anything goes.

Also they are broken down between CF/SLI and Single GFX.

cheers

agreed. I've always used watercooling on mid-range gear so I really can never compete

maybe I should get a cpu-heatsink/fan, bench, upload score and go back to watercooling (it's more quiet)... ok, maybe my E8500 will run 100mhz less, but hey, i'm in a lower catagory..
wouldnt it be easier if watercooling wasnt condisered "super modified" or "the extreme edge of entusiast oc"?

The only reason your PCmark05 score is low is because your in XP.... it does much better on Vista because of the 3d accelerated windows, so your transparent windows test sky rockets. Also 3870s run better in Vista then they do in XP from my own experience.

I'm having trouble with pcmark05. Many tests fail. Here's the list of failing tests :

HDD - XP Startup
Web Page Rendering
HDD - General Usage
Text Edit
Image Decompression
File Compression
File Encryption
HDD - Virus Scan
Memory Latency - Random 16 MB

My system specs are under my name. I thought maybe it had to do with Windows Vista but it works for Judas so that's not the problem. Maybe this has been mentionned before in the thread but I haven't read it all.

I'm running stock clocks on the cpu and the ram.

EDIT : I found a solution to my problem. I need to right click the link to the program and click "Run as administrator".

EDIT 2 : I'm giving up taking part in Roadee's Fastest Rig Competition (for now). I'm having overheating problems when overclocking. When I installed my cpu cooler (Zalman CNPS8000), I noticed that it touched one heatsink of my motherboard (ASUS P5E3 Deluxe WiFi-AP) slightly. Because of that, I was not sure if the cpu cooler was laying flat against the cpu. I gave it a try anyway and the computer ran fine at stock clocks. Now, when overclocking the cpu temps of the two cores climb very fast, very high so it looks like the heatsink is probably not perfectly flat against the cpu. I won't be able to overclock until I swap the cpu cooler with the stock Intel cooler (or another cpu cooler) and I don't think I'll do it for now (feeling too lazy today ).

So my advice to anyone reading this : I don't recommend using a Zalman CNPS8000 with a ASUS P5E3 Deluxe WiFi-AP.

Allow Me to express my deepest apologies!

I have fixed his entry, and he has been awarded the Avatar

Between the broken Radiator that I had (got a crack in the welding around the inlet/outlet valves of the radiator) and the crappy couple of X3350 (45nm Q9450 equivalents) I havent been doing as much as I should.

I am back to business though

i'm happy with the results i pulled out of that phenom. i raised it by 0.3GHz and it's a quad core. best yet is that it cost me considerably less than any intel that can keep up (unfotunatly there is a lot of intel CPUs that smoke it really bad)

probably so. rules haven't been updated in a while. they were updated shortly after the e6xx0 and q6xx0 CPUs were released.

Re: Roadee's Fastest Rig Competition Discussion Thread

Its been a while since anyone wrote anything in here..

But i want to ask the question.. Shouldn't the stock categories be brought up to date? dx9 i very old these days..

i would take the intel stock if it wasn't because i used a hd 5770..
