IC7-Max3 Mods?
I havn't done any mods to my Max3 yet... seems like the 2.6c chip gave me the best overclocks... but am happy with my 2.8c which I've seen stable at 3.4+ But have run into various hiccups when trying to hit 250 fsb On AIR...
After reading numerous abit forums, it seems that abit initially screwed up a bit with it's memory capaciters... and hence anything over 2.8v 4 ram simply becomes unstable unless u mod it.... I run completly stable up to 236 maybe 240.... So -- has anyone done any mods? Zardon ? with a 3.2ee You should have done this long ago...? One final thing, Would luv 2 know how to get 150mb/sec avg. with my raid0 ... the new hdTACH3 shows a slower spec of 80 or so? of course I'm using the intel controller! TIA

I've had 2 of these boards and one had the cap mod already done. Unfortunately I killed that board by chipping the northbridge whilst fitting my water cooling.
Got another one which doesnt' have the mod done and it does have problems over 2.8v. Thing is I'm too scared to try to remove the cap cos I'll probably bugger it up. |

At 2.8v what's best ram?
Again have done a lot of checks on this...
Corsair wants 2.9 or even 3 4 overclocks it seems.... My Kingston rated for 500mhz has only really hit 480 maybe... @ 2.8v I've been wanting 2 upgrade 2 1 gig, but have been waiting due to pricing...and performance! Anyways, sum guy named MAdCAT over on the abit board will do the mod for you if you can ship him your board.... since this is my only one....it's gonna be awhile, hence the questions..... once again, TIA

Max3 needs a VTT mod..this is quite involved but does transform the board.
if you need more info have a look over at the max forum at the abit forums. All mods involve cutting a trace so it is a 1 way trip

Is the EB stuff better than for 2.8?
I've definetly been wanting to do this... but having never done a trace on a mobo before and other soldering mods I'm waiting till I get my laptop before making this adjustment....
BTW it seems like HP has some amazing amd64 laptops for cheap... fully configured 64 3400+ 512Ram, 60gig hard drive, wireless/bluetooth, etc... 15.4 wuxga screen upgrade but only 64ram for video using the nvidia440... all for under 1300 maybe less if you get all the possible rebates... that's config'd with most of the best options too...? otherwise subtract a few things to get it as low as 900.... just thinkin this must be an awesome laptop is all.....
