Arctic-Cooling VGA Silencer

I got a few questions about the VGA Silencer for my ATI Radeon 9700 Pro.

#1. How quite is it on low and high speeds?

#2. Does it cool that good compare to the stock fan?

I've been thinking about getting one for a while now, putting it on won't be a problem. I have just been alittle afaird to get one, because I don't know how they are. Don't want to risk anything bad happening to my 9700 Pro, it's the best video card I have ever had. If you have had any good or bad experiences with it, please let me know, so I can decide.

Well, I went a head and got one, and also I got 2 Thermaltake Memory Cooling Kits.

I can't help it, I'm a compulsive buyer!

I'm interested in these but have never modded vidcards before. How difficult is installation and what happens if you mess it up?

TwistedMetal, maybe you can fill me in on that after you put yours in.

I've never modded hardware, but I have built computers, so I am not worried about. All you do is unscrew some screws, pop out a few pins, put some thremal paste on it, then put some screws in. It's really simple to do. If you mess up, you will fry your video card.

I'll let ya know once I get it put in, I will probably post pics.

When I installed the Arctic cooler on my Radeon 9600 pro I could go from an overclock of around 470mhz on the core to 510mhz.

The fan on the cooler itself is ultra quiet on low and high settings, not noticable.

I was a little nervous when installing it, but it really is easy. I needed two sets of hands to complete this job when fitting the Arctic cooler, one person holding the card itself, and one person holding the cooler and screwing it on the card. As long as you dont overtighten the screws, you will be fine.

i just got my 9700 pro last saturday with the vga silencer already installed. of course, i cant tell you if it's hard to install, but i would assume not. the vga silencer is very quiet even at high speeds. if you leave the side panel off, you can hear a faint sound from it, but if the side panel is on, you cannot hear it over your power supply.

Well, I got it put on. It's wasn't bad at all, but it did take sometime. I had to scrape at it, there was a thermal pad on it. Once I got that off, it was pretty simple. But, now you don't have to take off the front plate of the video card, it comes with a single front plate/grill. I think anyone can do it.
