I have a 3.2 GHz P-4EE....

on an ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe MoBo...It's an Alienware Area-51.If it makes any differance I also have 2 GiGs of Corsair XMS at DDR-400.Should I be able to go to 3.4 GHz with no trouble?I mean by just with an adjustment or something?????I dont wanna get "out there"like some of you guys do cause I'm REAL green on this OCing stuff....Thanks...hawg

Yeah it should be fine. I would first do it at 5:4 ratio to see how it does. Then do the 1:1 to see how high your memory can go. Just remember you put have to pump some more voltage through the ram. You should be able to hit 3.4GHz /w no problems..maybe even 3.6GHz.

I am not so sure that it's that easy with EE series...I tought that AlienWare OC's machines buy default, after all you do give them lot more money than the rig acctualy costs...I am kind a dissapointed to hear this...

alienware's come at stock speeds i think...and to OC it that little amount i'd up the FSB a little bit (if your multiplier is, say, 20, up the FSB 10 to achieve a 200MHz OC)

The Area-51's arent OCed at all.The new ALX series are OCed.But they have water cooling.So far,I have OCed it at 3.5GHz and change.Temps and voltages are fine.I tried going up to 20%{3.8GHz} for just a second or two but the machine did not seem to want to shut down.I only gave it 7 or 8 seconds or so.Then I shut it down manually...Whats up with that???

probably instability. What voltages were you using at 3.8?

well ne wayz....i was wondering if any of you guys know the max voltage on a 3.2 prescott. I've heard 1.7v is the "threshold", but is that for 3.2 northwood, or 3.2 prescott? heheh....i've had my 3.2@ 4Ghz. Wasn't stable tho. Ran 3Dmark01, first test finished, halfway through the second test, my system rebooted. My settings were: 5:4, 247FSB, 1.58v, RAM @ 2.7v. My chip was running at 68C in an air conditioned room! I was like SH*T that's hot!!! I gotta get me some better cooling if i want to do some mad OCing.

Hey Hawgs Lets see some benchmarks come out! You got this rad system and nottin to show for it! I got my 2.8c to successfully benchmark @ 3.72! And when i get new hs/f expect an 1ghz overclock from me, i idle 32 now and load is 47-50c its really hot outside now so im not chancin it

alright benchmark software you can get free. Get 3dmark 03 3dmark 2001 se and pcmark 04, maybe you can make a show in the overclocking contest. futuremark.com is where you can find these programs. They are large but pretty fun to compete with others with.

you do have to pay for it if you want some advanced options, but you dont need them acctualy. I would highly recommend Prime95 application for sistemstability testing. Google for it

Also, his 3.5 EE p4 will give a slight better resaults than regular "c" or "e" P4 @ 3.5ghz...I am really against big company policies towards end users buying 1000$ CPU's that work 10% better than thoese 250$ ones...and later those users see asstonishing resaults with 5x chiper CPU's and ask questions like "how's that possible ? My PC costs 5 times more than yours !"

It really just should stayed in domains of Duron, Athlon XP, 64 and Intel Pentium and celleron without Opterons and Xeons getting involved in "naming" "new" CPUs.... But that;s only my opinion...

There wasnt a challenge involved, I just think he'd be more satisfied when he sees some benchmarks towards some other users... the EE has the lovely huge cache which makes a ton of diference. ur right on that company policy crap tho gameboy... prime95 is a hell of a load thats for sure! i saw a post of urs bout it earlier downloaded it and went 2 hours no errors @ 3.65

But if you do not miss the money that you gave for it, then it's cool !

@GutterPunk: Prime95 is excellent app for testing stability, if it runs for 30mins on torturetest/In-place LArge FFT's you can assume that you will go trough 3dmark, but for complete sistem stability info, I recommend running it with blend test for at least 6hrs error free !
