ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe MoBo?????

Theres a setting on this MoBo in the BIOS,,,,,,,It says "AI Overclock Tuner"5%-10%-20%-30%...Is this what I think it is????Will these settings OC my processor?And if so,if I choose 5%,will it OC it 5% of 3.2 GHz????If I choose 10%,will it OC my processor 10$ of 3.2 GHz?The processor is a P-4-3.2GHzEE.Anything special I should know about this IF i am on the right track here?????....Thanx

yes...i think that is what it does, and it may even do the nexessary voltage mods to get there too...i'd start with 5% and see hwo your temps look

37.5{c} or 99.5{F}..It's the same temp as it was before I set it to 5%???.is there any way to tell how fast the CPU is turning now?

The MoBo gives me MoBo temp,4 voltages,fan RPM,CPU fan RPM, and CPU temp...now at38{C} or101{F}???

38 is very good for air cooling..i would say go ahead and try the 5% and run it liek that for a few hours, maybe fire up some farcry or other processor-whoring program and see hwo the temps are after that...try and keep em under 48 or 50 C

I talked to a tech at ASUS.Thats exactly what those settings mean.It OC's the CPU and the memory.It changes the voltages also.He also said not to go over 130 degrees.Do you guys say thats too hot or is it OK?...1 more thing...Is WCPUID the best program for monitoring this stuff???

You could have downloaded ASUSProbe which gives all the read outs of an ASUS motherboard and it's 100% with the motherboard.

ASUS' AI Overclocking is a great way for newcomers who don't want the hassle of OCing to OC with a touch of a few keystrokes.

The max tolerable temperature for your CPU is 71 Degrees Celcius. You'll not get that high. By that time your CPU would be throttling to cut the heat being generated. Intel's Throttling has saved a lot of CPUs

I'm so glad Athlon64's have it now. You'll also be glad to know that ASUS AI Overclocking will maintain very safe OCing. It will crash your system if you OC too high though. But a crash is better than frying.

yeah I've noticed that when getting up to the 2.6ghz range on my CPU, that if it gets too hot the comp will just cut out completely. Thats when i know that ASUS just saved my ass :-D

oh yeah I got a 2800+ not a great O\Cer for me unfortunatly. still 2.6ghz is nothing to scoff at I guess.

I like insurance!So tell me something else.I have a good friend at Alienware.He's not just,how do I say this,a regular employee.He resides in the corporate offices.Kinda on the top floor.He knows this stuff inside-out.He WOULD NOT tell me about this feature.Why?Another thing.The AI feature says you can OC this thing 30%????That would be WELL over 4GHz...NO WAY...right???? So just how far will it go?

Well see the thing about it is that there isnt nessesarily BETTER overclocking. From what I can tell, AMD is EASIER to overclock, but when you get the extreme measures(like at Tomshardware.com) the intel chips haul @$$. He got his over 5ghz using liquid nitrogen.

as for my proc btw, it is a 2800+ so basically the equivilant to a 2.8ghz P4 and it runs at 2.08 ghz. so basically I got a 20% overclock.

Now that I'm looking at the numbers, I'd say that you would be VERY VERY VERY lucky to get 20% on air cooling. Also since you're using a pentium 4, I would suggest that you NOT TOUCH the voltage...I've heard alot of horror stories about people messing with the voltage and then days later the processor just dying (i think its called SNDS or Sudden Northwood Death Syndrome)

anyway it sounds bad since the CPU dies.

oh yeah about the Alienware thing. They are just uber secretive...or that particular guy didnt know and didnt want to show that he didnt know something computer-esque.

Thanks for the info.20% is strong as thunder.The guy at ASUS told me that when I change the overclock %,the voltages change too.It's built in.So I can get 30%,but I will have to add aftermarket cooling....No,I'm not ready to go there.....yet.I dont think I will take it past 10%.Just to be on the safe side.Now,as far as aftermarket cooling.What would a GREENPEA need to look for?If and when I consider it????Does this stuff just "bolt on"?And i'm talking about the"mild"stuff......I can hook up a roots type bolwer to a big block Chev. all day long,but this stuff scares me!....Again,thanks.

I really wanna thank all you guys again.I'm impressed!I have learned more about overclocking sence I joined Driver Heaven{2 weeks ago} than I have learned at all other forums combined.Not to say that I know alot,but I know a heckova lot more than I did 2 weeks ago.And that was pretty close to nothing.Again folks....thanks!
