Sexy, Sexy! Not just the OC itself, but the fact it's with only 1.5v and on air.

I doubt that the higher volt will get you further anyway so dont bother, better get some cooling for that presshot maybe then you'll get some more mhz out of it...

I wouldn't budge the voltage up too much. Maybe to the next increment and that's it. If anything you should increase it to that for stability's sake and not more MHz.

And it's good to see my thread put to good use!

mostly i run my whole system stock. No need to OC unless i'm playing games or benching. two of the guys at work both have 3.0 northwoods and they're killing their processors cuz they always keep it at like 3.7Ghz. one can't do 3.8 anymore unless he's at like 1.8v and the other can't do 3.8 at all.

continuous OCing is damaging to the cpu especially when the the voltage is set above the threshold. 1.75v is for northwoods, and 1.55 is for prescotts (this according to No_Style's article on max voltages). the higher the OC and the volts, the faster the cpu dies. the two guys from my work, they both have 3.0 northwoods, and they can't OC as high and as well as they used to. they both know that their CPUs are going out.

well yeah i knwo about voltages i showed you ur max haha, but yeah just playin around i can still hit 3.8 with ease. OCing is damaging but with proper cooling the wear and tear isnt near as much (as i dont go over 45C ever

Despite knowing the max voltages, I overvolt to 1.725 (1.75 max). Why? Well it's below the max, but I also want to use the full potential of this processor while I still have it. Yes, it's true that degradation increases because the more voltage you give it, but the processor should be out of your hands before that happens.

As for your friends who can't do 3.8 GHz "anymore".. I've never heard that happen. Either A) They were never really able to achieve 3.8 GHz in the first place or B) They did some changes to affect it.

Personally, I found that I had to increase my voltage and decrease my overclock when ASUS began to fix the massive VCore flux with their BIOS releases. Initially I was able to run at 3.35, but with the BIOS releases.. I found that my OC went down because they fixed the proper VCore.

voltages are dangerous, so what ?! They will shorten life of your CPU - They Will !!! So take care if you want to use your CPU for more than 10 years Yesterday i OC-ed Duron spitfire 600 to 1160mhz @ 2.11V and max rated volt is 1.8V he didn't die, he still works, and has been working wor 4 years @ 1.9@986mhz on air cooling.....what say you

It is different on intel platforms. Intel tends to show what he can do @1.65V and everithing over is suicide or brings nothing then few (50~90) misserable mhz. From my experience, presshots (presscots) 3.0 can go up to 3.8 @ 1.65V and with 1.7V mearly 20mhz more (3fsb)

I've seen both of them hit 3.8 before. It's been several months now since last i saw either of them hit 3.8, and now they both complain that they can't do that under 1.75v. They both have done 3.8 a couple times @ like 1.8v, but they don't want to go over that 1.75v limit.
