not really a mod, maybe just ghetto?
so, to save money on the air conditioner, I have a 120mm case fan on my desk blowing at me.
would you call that ghetto?

o shi... I can stick an HSF to my forehead!! ah but I don't have any spare
no pics, gutter, but I can desribe very vividly for you. just imagine a black wooden desk . . . upon it is a 120mm fan pointed directly at my searing soul . . . the sucker spins quietly, pushing a gentle breeze helping me to keep from overheating (if that happens, I lock-up in a coma or crash to floortop). oh and it's connected to the rear molex port on the back of the power supply.

that is such a visual... but a dang good idea vampy, I am tempted to having one for myself lol think 5 tornado jet engines blowing your hair back like you are in a picture shoot as you pose for someone on web cam haha....
on a scale of 1 - 10 how well does it cool you off? especially in intense gaming lol

it's actually pretty decent. not like a normal room fan, but does help still.
I idle at 98.3ºF, and I'm at 98.9ºF load . . . was 99.2ºF load before. |

Put a thin filter on it and you have a ghetto air-purifier as well.

hehe that's like my old make shift PC case air conditioner. Invloving two 120mm 5700rpm fans (loud, pushing 430CFM of air) and two tumble dryer air ducts connected to the case and hanging out of the window. Obviously only works during winter

gone one better, go find an old cylinder style fan and put it on top of your case..lol. I found one at a used electronics parts store to cool telephone exchange cases, it moves air very very efficiently..lol

it crossed my mind...you could add a heatsink under it and attach heatpipes from heatsink to your ears&forehead, this should keep you cool

the point of ghetto is to spend as little money as possible
![]() the most I'd consider doing is upgrade to water cooling . . . buy a little squirt bottle, fill with water and spray on me every now and then . . . . increases the cooling potential of the fan by a lot! |

put a fan on the toilet, sit there on your bum and blow the cool air up into your kit, and you should cool off pretty quick, but you might end with snow peas in your intestines instead of family jewels, caution is advised.

Last year I got a cheap 5500 BTU at Walmart and it does a really good job at cooling the room my PC is in, and with a few rotating pedestal fans it cools the rest of the apartment off quite nicely too... You should really invest in one of those little AC's, they work great and don't make the electric bill jump too high either.

I already have central air, but because of this fan, I didn't have to turn it on yesterday
![]() anyway, this is just a temporary thing, figured it would be a funny thing to try.

I once had this crazy Idea to try to strap a lot of heatsinks all over my body and see if they cooled me down... a couple active heatsinks too
