Big Grin new setup, aiming for 6000 with my 9700, will I make it?

So now that I finally have a new CPU, wondering if I can break through 6000 points in 3DMark03 now that my AIW9700Pro has some breathing room!
I've only run a stock test so far, and I got 5450.

...no more link (I'm not a Pro user ), here are the frates tho:
Quote:
Main Test Results
3DMark Score 5452 3DMarks
CPU Score Not enough CPU tests run

Game Tests
GT1 - Wings of Fury ....... 208.8 fps
GT2 - Battle of Proxycon ... 33.2 fps
GT3 - Troll's Lair ......... 29.9 fps
GT4 - Mother Nature ........ 33.4 fps
our friend Chaos got over 6200 I think with his AIW9700, but that was a huge overclock.
I could overclock mine pretty high a long time ago, but now I have more devices and strain on the +12v line, I dunno if it will hit that high anymore.

A 10% increase in score...

I'm not an overclocker (yet...) but is a 15% GPU boost (just 50hz or so...) and a 10% CPU boost doable - oughta get you there...

Well the closest with my 9700pro was 5929 and that was when I still had 512mb ram.

checked your link, wow that's a pretty big overclock on your 9700. and your AthlonXP was at 2380MHz....
damn, doesn't look too good for me lol.

I'm not going to overclock the CPU, I think it's fast enough already, and 3dmark03 doesn't really depend on CPU speed much. But I'll see how it goes.
I'll be back in a while, with an overclocked score.

I just have the stock cooling, and no RAM sinks. I don't really want to do any mods to it.. just to get a few MHz

mm 6000 was doable nice with my 9700Pro. offcourse my AMD64 helped nicely but i had to set the core only to 370 to achieve it instead 398 posted by blade5545, mem was at 350.

here's the 3Dmark comparison : http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2994241

Anyway, the memory on my 9700pro sucks balls and hardly OC's at all- the core goes to about 370, but starts artifacting after 360 or so.. Highest I ever got is in sig..

Way to go Vampy - you're there!

Now see what a little CPU overclock will add - granted 3D Mark 2003 isn't supposed to care much about that but I bet it makes a little difference...

Good job Vampy you have joined the 9700pro 3dmark2003 6000 club, I knew you could do it.

The only test which seems CPU dependent seems to be the first test the Wings of Fury if you check all our scores and the cpu's that we have thats the only test which gets more fps depending on the cpu.

he beat my score.... 9800 pro @ 415/370

Barton 3000+ (166fsb) ddr pc2700

I'd have to say that 3dmark03 nocks probably a good 250-500 marks off the score between my system and vampy or chaos's....

I fried my memory doing that w/o ramsinks-

When I got my card a long time ago it ran 350mhz ram all day long, then slowly I would see artifacts until I could barely OC the ram at all w/o artifacts-

The core is still fine, but I think just one of the ram chips "fried" or whatever because when I see artifacts it's always in just one small spot of the entire scene...

Just be careful, feel that ram in the middle of a long benchmark w/ the tip of your finger and you will see what I mean.. I run ramsinks now, but man I wish I did before I ever OC'd. The most I push my ram now is 320.

My next card is not going 10 mhz over default clock speed w/o ramsinks and upgraded core cooling if needed..

all right, this is as high as it will go without artifacts: 392/351
I think that's as high as I got it before, I guess the extra +12v strain doesn't matter in gfx card overclocking
and the score . . . : 6299
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=3066830

Quote:
3DMark Score - 6299 3DMarks

Game Tests
GT1 - Wings of Fury ....... 226.5 fps
GT2 - Battle of Proxycon ... 39.3 fps
GT3 - Troll's Lair ......... 34.8 fps
GT4 - Mother Nature ........ 40.1 fps
got over 40 in GT4
not too bad I think eh? for a BBA 9700 card straight out of the box (no mods)
I ain't gonna run it that fast forever though, don't wanna eff up my precious gfx card
