A forum member over a ABXZONE discovered something quite interesting

It appears that ASUS released v 1006 of their BIOS for the P5AD2 board which features a new option in the BIOS called "CPU LOCK FREE". Which brought his multiplier down to 14x instead of his default 18x for his P4 3.6E. Yes, he did lose some clockspeed, but that's not the point of it all.

I use their AI overclocking utility on my p4p800, took my old 2.8 to 3.2 on stock cooling...ran okay..little warm though, it was hot enough to melt lipstick or butter...lol

asus revealed the ability to do this a while ago, but im glad to see it make it's way into a bios

asus qwins the prize in my book for catering to the hardcore crowd...they unlock EVERYTHING, almsot always have agp/pci locks, and even allow some OCing on a few of their server boards

i misread it and is only for a 3.2e. i was wondering because my 2.8c is @ 14x

I am looking for a way to efficiently funnel cool air into the cpu fan, you know, precool it and dry the air to avoid condensation problems...nutha thread though.

well jeff i can pull 3.8 w/o real big heat problems... its a bit unstable but w/ non stock cooling it'd be better. and u can have lower temps if you wouldnt use that crap thermal grease that comes w/ a cooler

Do you guys think my P-4 3.0GHz{Northwood} would by OK useing the ASUS AI feature at 20% OCing????10% is 3.3GHz and ASUS Probe says it's running at 36 to 38 degrees C?????
