OC troubles with A64 3000+ and VNF3-250

Well guys I cannot get this damned thing to post at above 225 HTT anythign above it will jsut make long beeping noises. I tried usign ratio on ram, loosening ram timings, lowered cpu multi, and htt multi, and raised chipset voltage, nothing seems to work. Anything else I could try that you can think of. If not I'll be happy with 2.2 @ 1.475V (mayb 1.45 haven't prime tested 1.45 yet)

"2.2 @ 1.475V (mayb 1.45 haven't prime tested 1.45 yet)"
you mean 1.575 and 1.55 right? since default is 1.50

No, I actually mean 1.475 and 1.45. Since I couln't get it to go higher I figured I'd attempt to lower the vcore to keep the heat down a bit, even though it's not very hot at all with this xp-90. Now I'm running 2.2 with 1.45 volts and it was prime stable for around 7 or 8 hours last night which is good enough for me. And yes Vampy these boards do have PCI/AGP locks.

Donator
keep default Vcore. u will get above 225HTT. are u have a CO or CG core. i have a 3200+ CO and i can get to 2.3ghz @ 230HTT with default Vcore. heat should not be a issue with that HSF at all.

i'm using a MSI K8T FSR mobo

I'm ony llowerign it, because I'm at 2.2. I kept default and even it raised it, but it won't go. It's really bugging me with a VNF3-250, 3000+ CG, and an XP-90 I should get more than 2.25ghz especially after seeing lord knows how many people hit 2.4-2.5 on air.

My powersupply isn't that great, but it's pumping out enough voltage. I had some wierd results. Theres a trick with these where sometimes if you change certains thing it won't boot so you gotta hold restart butto ndwon then it'll post/boot. This resulted in the ram showing at the correct speed (showed 391 when i had HTT at 230 or 235), but the cpu showed as 2000mhz. It said it was in safe mode and gave the option to continue or go into bios and reset cpu frequency, very wierd indeed.

Yes, I know they do have locks, but I was asking if you have them activated.

It's locked by default, I think. I'm pretty sure mine defaulted to a lock at 66mhz.

Locked by default of course. Well I encountered somethign wierd. I saw a reccomendation early on that you should hold the reset button when you change multipliers or other thigns if it doesn't seem to work. Tried that and the ram booted up at 391mhz when i was at 230 or 235 HTT which would be correct with my divider, but cpu speed showed 2000mhz. Then it said is in safe mods hit f1 to continue to del to enter bios and reset cpu frequency.
