i know it does not make sense. but i went through 3 raptors until i thought what if there is some sort of sharing with power going on? by this time i had already been through 2nd tier asus & wd. they had no clue. my comp would not 'see' the raptor no matter what. no probs with the cuda though.
so i turned it down to the next lowest & the drive suddenly appeared. have not had a problem since. fyi i am running my fsb at 1/1 at 254 on a asus p4p800. i know that is not the 260+ you have stated but pretty close. still think it is some sort of common resource thing.

I thought I read your initial post on this and you said you hadnt locked the PCI/AGP divider? therfore everything was going out of sync and that was why you were losing the raptor.
the situation I was detailing isnt the same, my PCI/AGP divider on the PCIe slot 775 was always locked, but on PCIe rigs, you cant lock the sata bus and it floats..... most of the raptors fail in the 258-265 zone, quite a few people I know on xtremesystems.org had the same issue and had to sell the raptors for other drives to get massive fsbs. |

sorry if i gave wrong info. my agp/ide was at 80/40. raptor would not work at this speed. turned agp/ide down to 72.7/36.4 no problems. at all. if i ocd higher my gues is i would have to turn the divider back to default speed. i know it makes no sense but it is a fact.
the sata bus must share something with the ide bus. is there actually any power draw across ide/sata data cable?

as far as i know, there is no power being drawn from the IDE/SATA cable itself, but i could be mistaken.
