That's a pretty low CPU temp, my 1.8A OC'd @2.1 runs @30C idle. BTW, can I have your old CPU?

well winters helping and the watercooling.. plus the low voltage on the cpu..

my old cpu is in a grave. it suffered SNDS
Sudden Northwood Death Syndrome
: its were if you run the cpu over 1.85volts it will start to cook itself no matter how cold.

RIP my 2.26B@3.2 everyone take a moment for silence

Anyone know that the main changes are with the C1 stepping? Just curious as a C1 P4 2.53 arrived on my desk this morning

It's with out a doubt much better for overclocking: http://www.vr-zone.com/guides/Intel/Northwood/

But acording to overclockers.com, they have raised the core voltage to 1.525V from 1.5V and optimzed the 0.13 micron core, so it will be more stable and allow better overclocking. Also they expect that C1 stepping will be used to almost 4 gHz, so it seems to be a very stable and overclockable core.

But there is more!!

Geek News repports that if you underclock a C1 stepping CPU to the same speed as an "old" P4 CPU, it will run faster, since they fixed a bug in the core (this one: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=5184 ). AnandTech reports that it runs 2% faster then the "old" CPU with the same speed!!

Or as HardOCP explains about the C1 stepping:
(a) they get higher quality higher speed processors from the production; (b) remove bugs and; (c) obtain a higher ‘yield’. (Yield is sort of like planting 10 seeds and getting 10 plants instead of 8.)

More goodies: http://www.bench-house.com/article.php?sid=92

Phew that's all for tonight

What benchmark is that? But if the CPU is overclocked, the fsb is set higher then normal and this will effect result....
