Lol, I think that rig could indeed initiate a hell of a fight if he put it in the middle of the street and simply said "Winner take all, ready, FIGHT!!!" lol

Just thought I'd let you know - I tried to connect the HDDs together again and the problem is gone, probably some new BIOS revision fixed it.

Don't watch the wires, I'm terrible at cablemanagement..
and one of the red lights doesn't work, the one at the bottom.

Some photo's without the red light will come soon

My HTPC system just before I parted it out.

If you can believe it there is over 70 feet of sleeving inside that case.

PS: I highly suggest never getting the idea to build a four HDD, SLI, watercooled HTPC. It was awful to work on.

Actually that is why I parted it out. Either it was quiet and overheating, or loud as snot.

One of the fellows I work with just got one of that same series case, but with the bottom mounted PSU - wonderful!

Nice top end setup there...

Re: Offical Show Your Rig Off

I was 100% going to get Sapphire. I went to 2 sites, and at the shopping cart decided to go with NCIX. Paid 589$ for the X2 and got the case for 169$ and then 5$ ground shipping. Also the warranty is 1 year through NCIX. This is my second HIS and i still regret not buying the Sapphire but i made a choice. I went to see the Oracle this morning and she told me that i already made my choices, now i have to understand why i made those choices.

So, price, shipping, ncix warranty.

Thansks for your input kris.

Well, everything is setup. This case is huge and a pleasure to work in. Some minor negative points. I'll gather my thoughts and post later.

One big problem however is the PSU. It's loud! It totally offsets the quiet 230mm fans, which is why i got this case. I don't have the front and rear fan hooked up. Fans running are : side 230mm, top 230mm, 4870X2, PSU, Dominator airflow.

I hooked back my 600W and what a difference. Do you guys think i can get by on an X3 600W 36A?

Crap pictures, i had WB set to tungsten by mistake. I'll take some more when everything is finalised.

I will clean all the wiring when i decide what to do with my PSU and i still have a tuner to install.

Re: Offical Show Your Rig Off

My Rig - Gigabyte GA-EP35-DSR3 / Intel Xeon X3210 B3 @ 3Ghz / Xigmatek HDT1283S / 6 Seagate 7200.9 (4x 300gb, 2x 250gb) Raid 5 / 4x1Gb DDR2-800 Buffalo Firestix @ 469Mhz 5-5-5-15 2.0v / Gigabyte Radeon HD4850 512Mb / Corsair VX550 / Antec P182b / Vista Ultimate x64 / Westinghouse LCM22W

My HTPC - MSI mATX Geforce 8200 mobo / Windsor X2 4000+ 2Ghz 1Mb L2 cache per core with Artic Cooler Freezer64 low profile connected via Zalman fan controller / Seagate Momentus 120GB SATA 2.5" HD / 1Gb DDR2-667 RAM / 2Gb ReadyBoost / LiteOn DVD-RW / Aspire Q-pack HTPC case w/OEM 420W PSU / Vista Ultimate x32 / Media Center TV Pack

My eldest, caveboy sr's rig:

Foxxcon AM2 nForce 570SLI / X2 5000+ BE 2.6Ghz @ stock for now with HyperTX2 HSF/ 3Gb DDR2-667 Value Ram 5-5-5-15 / SLI XFX 8800GS 384Mb using Forceware 180.42 drivers / LiteON IDE DVD-RW / Raid 1 Seagate 7200.10 250Gb / Vista Ultimate x32 / CM Mystique Case / CoolerMaster RealPower 650W SLI PSU

Don't have pics of the other two rigs, my wife's PC is in an Antec Sonata with Abit IP35-E / Core 2 Duo E6600 @ stock / 2x1Gb OCZ Reaper @ DDR2-800 5-5-5-15 1.8v / FireGL V3400 / 80Gb Raptor / 80Gb WD SATA / ATI PCI Theater 650 / 17" WS LCD / Vista Ultimate x32 SP1 w/TV pack / MS wireless desktop.

My little kids PC is a Shuttle SK43G with an Althon XP 2500+ XP-M, 2x1Gb DDR-333, 80Gb IDE HD, FireGL X1-128 AGP, Linksys 802.11a/g PCI Wifi, on a 4:3 LCD running Windows XP SP3.

I also have a Buffalo Terastation NAS, that the PSU failed on so I hooked up an old Antec 300 ATX PSU to get it back working again. 4x500gb Samsung drives in Raid 5, on my GbE LAN. The original PSU only deliver 12v and 5v power, so took two 4-pin molex to sata power adapters, removed the sata power connectors, removed the original psu power cable connector and solder it up - it used the same color coding, helpfully enough. Bridged the ATX mainboard connector to power on, so now the PSU comes on as long as the switch on the back is on. Couldn't get the internals to fit inside the original case, so I fed the power cables through the back and used double sided sticky tape to hold the psu on top. Bit of spray paint to match color, some black duct tape to cover the cables... working again!

Performance isn't great, but it's fast enough to see a benefit of use GbE LAN over 100mbps. I'm toying with how to make a storage appliance using a low power proc like an atom or sempron, and 8 disks (4 300gb disks from my main rig, and the 4 500gb disks in the NAS) being driven by Openfiler. Currently I have all my movies, tv shows, pictures, music and downloads on it. I'd like to have all my comps do backups with Acronis TI to it as well, but getting a little tight on space (1.3Tb raided out, currently using 800Gb) and performance dies when doing a backup to it.

lol yeah, lotta drives indeed!

The 4850 is awesome. I had a 2900XT and 3870 in quick succession before it, and its a definite improvement, especially when you crank the AA/AF. I run everything with 4xAA/16xAF, looks and plays beautifully. There's a lot been written about GPU temps for the 4000 series, but with the fan control in the CCC now its very easy to keep them wherever you want them. For the money, its a superbly capable card.
